Hey all.

For those of you that carry a revolver religiously, have you ever been tempted or strongly considered switching to a SEMI AUTO because of the 5 or 6 shot capacity you have and the slow reload times, comparatively speaking?

Why or why not?
I'm curious about your thoughts on this.

Thanks

I am a revolver fan, but sometimes also carry semi. But not for those implied reasons. My two prefered bottomfeeders are both full size (ish) single colums of 7 and 9rd respectively.

Its because I shoot them well, and they have particularly nice triggers for semi's .

The LC9 is one that's on my list of possible carry pieces. The other day I had the chance to handle a 9mm Shield and it was very nice in the hand. I can see why S&W sells them as fast as they can make them. I then saw they had a new Walther PPS M2 in the same case and I handled and go fled it for a while. I have to admit that the Walther was hands down the most comfortable in my hand and felt like it would be an ideal carry pistol. If I were to pick one of them right now, it would be the PPS M2. Anyone else handled one?

Of course I like a couple revolvers too. I have no clue what I'll end up with when I finally decide to buy a new pistol here in the next couple weeks.

I have a Ruger LC9, the only small semi i own for carry when out on my Harley in warm weather. It's OK but I still prefer a model 19 for ccw.

I did for a while until I became convinced I wanted something with a bit more inherent safety than the striker fired guns (I know - some of you are 100% perfect all the time even in high stress moments). I would be fine with a DAO auto as well but I do like a K frame with a good trigger; the best double action trigger for me to date so I'll stay with it. I have no quarrel with the DA/SA autos; that's mostly personal preference there.

I've found myself carrying my Shield 9 more then my 640 Pro lately. It conceals nicely and with the extra magazine in my pocket I don't feel under gunned. I also do carry a Ruger LCP when I go out in my neighborhood walking my dog with an extra magazine in my pocket.

Last Feb. I picked up a no laser M&P .380 and found it totally reliable, smaller & lighter than my Model 37, and held 7 rounds total. It became my EDC until I got a 340PD last week. I put 200 rounds through it and I've now returned to my roots of revolver carry. The 340PD is lighter than the .380 and easier to carry. My comfort level is just higher w/a revolver.

I too retired a 3" Model 65 and my 2" Model 37. I use both occasionally but my main carry guns are a Glock 19 and a Kahr P9.

One of the deciding factors was the shooting death of retired Sgt. James O'Sullivan, who intervened in a robbery in progress at a Radio Shack in downtown Manhattan, NY with a five-shot Model 36 and no spare ammo. What he thought was one gunman turned out to be three gunmen, not counting the getaway driver.

Yes, I carry a Ruger SR9C semi much of the time, easier to conceal and 10+1 capacity.

Other times I carry a Ruger SP101. The 101 with Buffalo Bore 158gr JHPs is the proverbial "pocket rocket" running 1320fps/612ft lbs and better barrier penetration by far than any typical semi auto.

Both are fun to shoot. Don

I handled one and its nice but I prefer the original. I found the grip to be more solid on the M1

I bought my runt Kahr just for that purpose.
Haven't actually carried it that much, yet.

I went backwards over the last 20 or so years of carrying concealed....

Carrying a BHP then a 1911 then a G17, then A G29, P3AT, numerous single stack nines, then a G26... I carry the KLCR, Charter Bulldog, and now 442 religiously.v Been carrying revolvers since about 2009-2010

I wouldn't say I've thought of switching, per se, but I would like to add the option of a semi-auto for carrying. At some point I'll get a carry semi-auto.

I really like the Sig P239, especially the DAK variant. The Kahr P9 and the Sig P250C are also appealing. I just recently started reading up on the Beretta PX4 compact. I wouldn't even rule out a Glock 19 (with the NY1/"-" connector combo). I had a Glock 23, but sold it, partly because it was snappier than I liked (says the man carrying a 642 with +P ammo :p ). If it had been a Glock 19 I might've been more likely to keep it. I'd probably rather stick with a single-stack than a double-stack, though.
