Grips can be either OEM, whatever that was for your gun, or personalized in whatever way makes it fit your hand (or your attitude) the best. Also, like shoes, they can be quickly changed to "suit the occasion." OP, you will not be likely to ever find THE original grips from your gun, but if you want it to "look right," the service style stocks with rounded edges on the bottom will come about as close as you can get (solid wood, no diamond.) OTOH, you have mentioned getting other grips "for the heck of it" and this opens the door to combat style, "boot" grips, ivory or stag grips, ad infinitum. To my hand and eye, the smooth combat finger groove style that S&W used about that time is quite nice, and would have been an available option about then.
AlphaSig, your target grips are beautiful. I don't suppose you were fortunate enough to get a "book matched" pair whose grain is the same on both sides? If yes, you got a tremendous deal on them! I get to the Chantilly show a couple of times a year and you have to really work hard to find any real bargains... you done good! xsentinel, those same target grips were available as an option (or post-factory) for your Model 10 and I've seen them installed that way many times (just FYI.)
