Recommend Me a Cigar, Update Post 82

Might I suggest you not smoke at all. Did the occasional cigar for a couple of years. Made my moustache, which was just under my nose as luck would have it, stink and my tongue taste like old socks. The mystic fades quickly under those circumstances.

You can suggest all you want but I expect you will be roundly dismissed around here.:D:D:D

Gave up the weed many years ago, but in the day I would order from a company in Tampa, Florida. They had a box with several different cigars to sample, always found them tasty.

Anything that comes in a foil pouch, is not a cigar in my opinion. George Rico and Rocky Patel are two of my favorite makers. I love Padrons as well. And Cubans are way over rated. A Lot.

I heard all the good cigar rollers moved from Cuba years ago to practice their craft in places like the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

I prefer Asylum 13s myself. They are medium to full bodied.

JRCigars.com. The JR Alternative series are good cigars they sell in bundles of 20. Usually around $35-45 per bundle, and they ship fresh. I've been smoking JR Alternatives for about 10 years, and really like the Excalibur III, Gurkha G3 Toro, Partagas Maduro #8, and several others. The Alternatives go on sale pretty regularly also.

AYC Grenadiers Cigars - CheapLittleCigars.com
I like these AYC Grenadiers for a cheap cigar. They are available at some tobacco stores locally.

I used to collect old cigar tins and boxes. The Grenadiers were my favorites to collect. Sadly, for lack of space, I sold the collection about 5 years ago. Gotta downsize somewhere. PS, the other favortie to collect--Prince Albert tins.

One of my go-to online shops is cigars.com. If you buy from them once, you'll get emails on their daily specials. My current favorite brand is anything from A. J. Fernandez, another ex-Cuban. His Man O' War and Ave Maria labels have a lot of variety, and the best thing is that his cigars are rolled right. Nothing worse than a cigar that won't draw.

I did.......

I in 2002 had to retire early due to health and I had a little boy, plenty of rezin to stop smokin' and drinkin'. So I did. And I'm glad I did. I loved it while I did it though and a few decent cigars ain't too bad. I especially liked a cigar on a crisp autumn day. So, sometimes, I kinda have the urge for one or a nice salt rimmed margarita but it's not worth hurting my health any more over. I've found pleasure and spend money in other places. Like in reloading supplies. Being retired on disability isn't lucrative, and I do better concentrating my little bit of fluid assets in productive places. I don't need more expensive hobbies.

I'm pretty sure pop was born with a roi tan clenched in his teeth. Those things just reeked!
I always preferred marlboros [emoji57]

I had totally forgotten, but my dad belonged to the 100 cigars for a buck club.

He smoked the dried up elcheapo gas station cigars.

One year I bought him a nice Pipe and some cherry blend tobacco. Told him no more of the nasty cigars in the car or house.

He smoked pipes for 30 years and it did smell better.

I smoked pipes off and on for a long time, I did not smoke cigarettes regular until my mid 20's and have quit them for up to a year. Need to quit again, but.

A friend had a son, he gave his 2 best friends a high dollar cigar. Until that point I never knew a cigar could be so good. It beat the 6 cent cigars Dad smoked.

My wife and I took a vacation to Jamaica 16-18 years ago. I found some real Cuban cigars. I scattered them out in my luggage. I guess customs was looking for something else that day. Smoked well for a while.

If I ever take up smoking? it'll be with a pipe.

You pipe smokers check THIS out... ;)

I smoked a pipe for a few years. The best tobacco that I found available in most stores was a little number called Borkum Riff (SP) But I eventually discovered a company called E. A. Carey that has several different blends and they are ALL wonderful.

One of my P.E. teachers--Mr. Guidry, smoked pipes religiously whereever he went. Our school gym was probably the best-smelling gym in the country.

After he quit teaching-he opened Guidry's Hobbies-and when entering--you got the smell of cherry? when smoking his pipe.

The Nica Libre is great with a cup of coffee or maybe a little shot to be sipped of Crown Royal. Another that I like is the Sancho Panza. Both of these are cheaper than the Arturo Fuentes but the Arturo's are hard to beat. I buy from Cigar's Int. on line and get pretty good prices. They also have sample packs of many different cigars that are priced reasonably and this would be a good way to try a lot of different cigars and see what you like.

I can smell.....

I can smell Captain Black a mile a way and float toward it like a cartoon character. I LOVE that stuff.:D
