I'm planning on buying a 15-22 sku#10208. The msrp is $449 but I'm looking to pay less then full price. This weekend I'm going to a gun show in Melbourne Fl and if I find a deal I'll buy it then. I'm hoping to tap in to the collective wisdom on this forum to determine what is a good price to pay. I'll have cash in hand and with any luck I'll take one home. Before I buy I plan on hitting every table in search of the best deal, but I really don't know what a good deal is. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Background info: I own the following guns.
M&P 22 compact
M&P Shield 9mm
H&K VP9
Glock 17 (don't like it and plan on selling it)
Del-ton AR 15 223-5.56

Rarely do I see good prices on guns at local shows. No brick and mortar store will ever beat the Internet (unless you get a helluva deal). Buy online unless you feel the need to pay more for having it right then and there.

This.

I can't speak to the model you're looking at but I picked up my 15-22 for $299 on an internet deal. I would bet this labor day there will be deals from PSA and a few others.

$449 is msrp on the standard sport. Nobody should pay msrp.

$389 is a decent store price. $20-$30 less for Internet would be my guess.

I live on the Space Coast as well.

I bought my M&P 15-22 at Bud"s and had it delivered to the LGS/FFL for $25 transfer fee (They are already listed on Bud's FFL list):
MERRITT ISLAND GUN COMPANY
3420 N COURTENAY PKWY UNIT #2
MERRITT ISLAND, Florida 32953.

$384 or $373 (cash)
S&W M&P15 22 Sport 10208 22LR 16 Collapsible Stock 25+1 $373.00 SHIPS FREE

A few clicks and the rest is taken care of.

I've had local shops match internet prices ( plus the FFL fee ) in the past, however I've recently moved and the local store didn't seem interested in budging from msrp.

I saw a few camo models listed for that price at cdnn but my wife ( the rifle is for her ) wasn't crazy about them. I liked the fde and green camo but she gave then a thumbs down.

I thought I saw one a year or so ago at a show for $329. Could that have been a previous model?

$373 is doable. Will the FFL dealer collect sales tax on top of that?

I got mine at an LGS for $384.99. You can find it cheaper online, but you have to add the transfer fee. I still paid a little more in the store, but I had it the same day.

The one I noted on Merritt Island only collected the $25 transfer fee, no FL sales tax. Oh, I forgot they also got $5 for the Background Check. So it was $30 above the Bud's price.

If an online price for the model I want is $350 and I add in the FFL fee and shipping, then I'm up around $400. So if I can find one at an LGS or at the gun show for about $375 plus sales tax then it's a wash.
I'll visit a store or two tomorrow and go to the gun show Saturday and see if I can negotiate down to $375. If so then I'll buy it. If I can't then the internet it is.

Either way I'll post the results. I really appreciate all the input, it provided me with the information needed to make the purchase with confidence.

Thanks to all.

I just ordered in the same model from my LGS for $375 (I'm in Seattle). So they are out there. Check "Grab" they had them for 355 earlier this week. After shipping and fee from LGS it made more sense to keep the money local. It should be here early next week.

It's always good to buy local and help keep them in business. That way you can see it in your hands before committing. In my case, I opted for the 15-22 Sport MOE SL model which no one seemed to carry locally.

Now ammo is another story. The savings by buying bulk and having it dropped on your doorstep is hard to beat.

Today I stopped in my local (only one in town) gun shop. They didn't have a 15-22 in stock so I asked how much would it cost if I had them order me one. After checking on his computer he said he could get me one for $450. I was floored.....$1 more than msrp. Needless to say, none of my money will be spent locally. I called a larger store in the next town to the south and was quoted $449.

Tomorrow I'll check out the gun show. If I see anything in the $375 range I'll buy it. If not then I'll buy it on the internet. The lowest I've seen the model I want is $370, add FFL and shipping and it's around $400.

I want to thank everyone for their input and advice. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.
