Remember Roy Clark? Hee Haw!

I seem to remember, I'm Pickin and I'm Grinnin or something like that.

It was a funny and light hearted show with good music. Watched it every week.

Yeah, Roy was good, but I remember Barbi Benton. She couldn't sing for sour apples, but who cares?

BR549 ! Roy Clark was great and my favorite was "Thank God and greyhound she's gone" that song always put a smile on my face. Roys version of yesterday when I was young was the most popular but this guy below in the link did a great job with it as did Charles Aznavour who's version I believe was the original.

Roy was great! But the real reason I watched Hee Haw was Gunilla Hutton aka Nurse Goodbody!

I drive by a Casino that's East of Oklahoma City and the billboard shows that he will be playing there soon. I always liked Gunillla Hutton(nurse Goodbody).

We had a ringside seat at his performance in Las Vegas years ago. Minnie
Pearl was also part of the show. As a former guitar player myself (nowhere
near his league) I was truly amazed at how he could play guitar and
banjo. He must be up there in the top 3 or 4 of all time.

I have satellite and Hee Haw is on RFD-TV every Sunday at 8 PM Eastern Time. I watch it every week.

Roy and his family were from Meherrin, Virginia. His dad moved them to DC. The Clark Family Band played some goood bluegrass.

Beat me to it, one of my Sunday night regulars. Roy was very talented I don't think there is anything with strings he can't play. I never saw him play a Sitar but did see him play a Balilaka once. He was very talented. The Hee Haw Gospel Quartet was my favorite spot of the whole program.

I'd like to call myself a guitarist but in reality, I'm a guitar picker. I loved Roy's guitar playing and would listen in awe, wondering how his guitar didn't burst into flames.

I always liked to see Roy with a younger person it seemed as though he enjoyed just following along. He was a great person.

He was the fastest picker around.
Hard to believe he grew up in Washington D.C. and was one of the first to be able to cross over and he never considered himself a country player.

We used to see Roy Clark and his wife at a local meat and three here in Nashville. He would always say good evening or a howdy.

Also Eddie Arnold and his wife ate there on a regular basis.

My cousins daughter "my second cousin" is currently taking care of Glen Campbell here at a local assistanted living home.

I Used to hang out with George "no show" Jones at a local speed shop. George was a car guy. i bought a F100 pickup truck from him in the early 2000's. The last time I saw him there, they were building his H2 Hummer. They installed every piece of chrome imaginable on it.

One of my best Freinds I went to school with in high school, his aunt was Shara Cannon. AKA Minnie Pearl. She used to come by his house and eat lunch with us. Even shot some basketball with us!!!

Hell, just last week we saw Stonewall Jackson (had a big hit Waterloo in the late 1950's) and his wife at cracker barrel eating lunch. My wife is good friends with him and his wife. They go to her dentist office, shes their dentist.

Nashville was the place to be in the 1970's! It was nothing to see what we now call legends at a Kmart or a Ben Frankin 5&dime store or just dining out!

OH, the memories!!!
