Unfortunately, it was partly cloudy in the Ozarks when the so called 'super moon' came up over the horizon. I only had about 30 seconds to get a quick shot and I'm disappointed in the outcome.

I waited around about 30 minutes until the moon rose above the cloud cover and was able to get another shot, but I prefer getting moon shots a little earlier in the evening. Sometimes mother nature just won't cooperate. :)

Those photos look great. Try it again in the AM. According to Space.com:

The next supermoon will be November's full Beaver Moon, which is expected to reach the peak of its full phase on the morning of Monday, Nov. 14, at 8:52 a.m. EST.

That is one big hunk of cheese--I genuinely believed that the moon was a giant cheese round as a kid and the craters were mouse and rat chewed. My one abiding question in watching the Apollo landing in '69 was whether the rats on the moon wore space suits, and if so, how they ate the cheese through their helmets.

Outstanding photographs all!

We live in a rural area about ten miles from town. Last night I could have driven to town and back with my lights off. Amazing :)

Seemed to be a number of these recent full moon at perigee, more than I can remember. Are the orbits shaking out or is this just media hype of a non extraordinary event a la polar vortex. The reason I wonder is with each "supermoon" comes the "king tides". Seems high tide is averaging about a foot and a half above the mean causing tremendous angst amongst the coastal residents and merchants.

Ankle deep water is not much but a few places have enough tide water where a vehicle wake will wash into storefronts or homes. Solutions proposed include taller sea walls, stormwater pipes fitted with what looks like a cross between a check valve and a birth control device and lots and lots of pumps.

Interesting is the reactions of the residents which range from the I95 transplant worried about his vehicle undercarriage and lawn to the long timer who said if Ma Nature wants a beach there's not much we can do.

Nice photo! I've got the equipment, but I've never tried to take a photo of the moon. I'm going to have to try it some day.

The wife and I are out in the bush, so we don't get any light pollution from the city. We were out looking at it too through a big telescope we picked up at a yard sale in Toronto from somebody who got frustrated with not being able to see anything.

You get some amazingly clear views, but even with the shade attached you come away from the telescope with the impression you've been staring at an arc welder!

North Carolina Supermoon

Well, here's my shot.

Got tired of fooling with the tripod, so just did this one hand held. I'm not totally satisfied with it. But at least I got it this time around. The moon won't be this close again until 2034, and I seriously doubt I'll be around to see it then.
