recommended nite-sights for shield

i mistakenly thought my new M&P Shield PC 9mm came with nite-sights, but it arrived with fiber-optics. didn't realize my order mistake until at the range. S&W customer service was humorous to point that out.

my fault for clicking on this one vs the nite-sight one on budsgunshop site. they don't seem to be eager for a return/swap.

what is the fave/recommended nite-sights for this shield if not the "tritium night sights" S&W puts on?

I like the TruGlo TFO's myself. I put them on one of my Shields. They are very bright in whatever light you use them in. I got the green as opposed to the yellow, which aren't as bright. Alot of the time you can find them on Ebay for around $80.

A word of caution though, Shield sights are notoriously hard to remove. I can't speak to the fiber optics on the Performance Series, but the regular ones are tough.

Don't waste your money on night sights. Get the TLR-6 instead. It has a red laser and a light. No need for night sights. I didn't need to adjust the TRL-6 since it was nuts on when mounted on my Shield 9mm.

Bill in Texas is correct, I have changed sights in my full size and shield, and the shield was very hard. Patients and Kroll penetrating oil is a must.

I have the MGW sight pusher for the shield and full size. I can replace them in a breeze.

Keep the FO, they are much more better than Tritium....JMHO.

I love fiber optic sights so on my shield 9mm I put on the TRUGLO green front yellow rear TFO's I like having the two different colors. If I had just fiber optics on my gun now I would not change them.

I wouldn't be so quick to replace the sights you have but if you really want night sights I will recommend Trijicon.
Trijicon just replaced the sights on my old 3913 and I do like them.

New old guy here. I just received a set of XS Big Dot sights to be installed on my Shield 9mm. Don't yet know how they will work. Will get them installed this week. Looks like they will be a good addition for my Shield.

XS are great sights, very easy and fast target acquisition.

a lot of great help & advice from all. now to re-think (after all this info) to replace the FO or not.

the TRL-6 is an interesting option but for me just seems a bit bulky...but that is just me and my thinkin, without even trying it...which isn't a fair call.

in daylight these FO are super. but i've grown used to night sights on my other semi-autos. without them, not something i want to carry or have next to bed. target acquisition with nite sights in day or nite is something i've gotten used to.

i can be taught new things though, so if got some thinkin to do.

You'll get a lot of opinions and most will be good ones. Me? I have the Ameriglo with very reasonable cost. I have the dot over dot on one of my Shields and the three dot on the other. I personally prefer the dot over dot and both have the orange outline on the front sight___really shows up in the daylight. Good brightness at night.

I bought these same sights. The front sight very distinct from rear. Really stands out.

I really like them, though the only other night sights I have tried are Glock and Sig OEM.

I have the TLR6 on my PC Shield, I have one on my Glock 43, that I carried previously, they are a nice addition especially for the relatively low cost. I carry at about 3:30 - 4:00 and didn't notice the additional bulk at all (and I am not easily comfortable). As far as sight picture goes, I'm not sure the TLR6 helps much, in total darkness, the front sight glows faintly, and the rears don't glow at all. I think it's a must for target verification, and the laser for targeting

Add another vote for Trijicon HD sights. I have them not so much for the night sights but because with my old eyes I can shoot decently without my reading glasses. The large U notch allows plenty of space either side of the front blade and dot. Without my glasses I can see enough space and light even with a somewhat blurry sight picture to keep the front sight centered.

I have TruGlo TFO's on My shield 45 which I like alot. MOSTLY because my eyes are tired and weak, The TFO's really light well under any light and real quick to pick up.
I'd like to add that my Shield 45 is laser like accurate, almost shoots itself, Makes me feel very confident carrying a somewhat limited capacity gun.
