The third major blizzard since 12/1/2016 is forecast to nail us Christmas day. We've received over 30" of snow already, and this could bring another 18" plus:eek:

The northern plains will be hit Christmas eve and Christmas day, and it will rapidly move east.

Major ice storm to be part of this through the "corn belt" states.

Today we'll be buying food etc. in preparation for being home bound ( and I need another bottle of SVEDKA vodka just in case):p

Stay vigilant my friends:)

Global warming ??;)

It's a good thing you denizens of the northern plains are hale and hearty folk. I guess the bright side is the spring crops get moisture? ;)

The Farmer's Almanac predicted a severe Winter for numerous parts of the Country. That alone should've been enough warning to already be stocked up on nonperishable items.People will make a daring rush to go out and buy eggs, bread and milk which none of these are necessities to risk your life going out in bad weather.

As long as I've got power and heat I can survive on canned corn, soup or whatever is in the pantry. Now if I only had a can opener.

Stay warm and keep safe.

Oldster, is that Svedka good stuff? I see it here for a good price but have never tried it . Just wondering ?

My BIL and sister are moving up to Northern Minnesota . It's so far north you can almost throw a rock and hit canada . He says they have just 2 seasons , " winter and 4th of July " . I believe he's right !

SVEDKA

I've always been sort of a Vodka connoisseur. So is my wife; she's Latvian Russian. A friend recommended the Swedish SVEDKA vodka as a high quality but little bit less expensive alternative to Stoli, Grey Goose, Belvedere, Ketel One, Absolut, etc.

Very enjoyable when drank straight from the freezer as all good vodka should be.

I'm glad we don't get hit like that here in Indiana.
I would go stir crazy. Sounds like you have it all
planned out and you are used to such things.
Be careful and don't get stuck out somewhere.
Merry Christmas and best wishes.

The weather guessers are forecasting severe thunderstorms and possible tornados here in Kansas Christmas Day. Light breezes too, 40-50 mph! Think my crew will stay home instead of driving to my brother's place in Salina.

I lived in Bismark for 6 months back in 1972, wonderful people, brutal weather! I'll tell you one thing, the folks at the Moose lodge can put away some serious beer.

They are predicting the nasty wintery mix for us in Minnesota. I'm always stocked up, so really just need to gas up the Jeep on Friday after work, and maybe snag some extra coffee.

Stay warm everyone.

The weather-dorks around here always over-predict. You can tell they aren't FROM around here, by the way they mispronounce Wayzata, and Edina, and Nicollet, and Kanabec. So every six-inch snowfall is the weather event of the century where we are going to be snowed in for a week. I can't remember a snowfall that kept me from work for more than a day.

If we are lucky, this one will lead with rain, so we can get that layer of polished ice on the roads before the snow hits-just in time for travel. Had about 8" of snow on the yard 2 days ago, but it's been above freezing and is raining right now.
The Arctic is about 50F above normal temps for this time of year. Argue all you want about global warming, the Arctic is getting warmer and the oceans have been trending warmer for years.

I can't imagine some of the snow storms some of you guys go through. I saw a "video short" on TV the other day that amazed me and it is from the OP's area too. Check out the door imprint in the snow! Here it is:

Started snowing overnight here, about a half inch of new already. At least it warmed up a little, 26 this morning

In the Northeast power outages are fairly common during heavy snow storms. Occasionally for a few days. Wood stoves and/or generators are a must.
