I was at a loss for words.

Is there a way I can...

Is there a way that I can double like your post???:)

That was a great story even up until the time you got the doggie, which really topped it off. Karma, what goes around comes around, you sow what you reap. When a good deed works out, it's really worth it. We know about good deeds never going unpunished, but in spite of that we have to have the guts to do the best we can.

PS He's gorgeous!!!

Jinglebob's post brought back memories from the past. In the summer of 1978 I was running a drill rig north of the Mexico border, south of Ajo, Arizona. The daytime temperatures were in the 120 degree range with one day at 127. Being from the mountains I volunteered for evening tower, 7pm to 7am. Being the only lights for a hundred miles, about every evening I would see eyes on the parameter of the drill site. One lone man would venture in with empty milk jugs, looking for water while the others stayed a distance away. These jugs were filthy as they had been dipping out of stagnant cow ponds. I allowed them all the water they needed. After the first 2 nights I realized this was going to be an every night thing. I would go to the local grocery store and buy 3 loafs of day old bread for one dollar. I would almost have to force it on the migrant workers and they were very appreciative and kind. I knew they were illegals but they were dying and had 50 more miles to go to the closest town. They were not going to die on my watch.

An interesting event happened one evening. As I was going to work I met my tool pusher (foreman) and he had a gaggle of immigrant women and kids in the back of his truck. I asked him what was happening. He related the following story. He was driving down the road when an antelope jackrabbit appeared. Like all of us he had his 22 pistol and stopped and took a shot at it. Immediately these people jumped out of a ravine and surrendered to him saying no policia, no shoot, no policia, no shoot. He took them to town and parked in front od a restaurant where he went in and ordered supper till they escaped.

What's with all the love for illegals who don't speak English breaking our laws to enter into our Country and then making themselves at home on your private property?
They committed multiple crimes.
They should be arrested, fined, jailed and deported!

Sure... Legal immigrant's.
But ANY ONE hiding out in one of my out buildings without MY permission is Illegal... American citizen or alien who does not respect my property.

Assuming you didn't want this young couple to freeze to death, taking shelter in an outbuilding was an act of survival. Could they have knocked on the door? Certainly, but fear and desperation don't always lead to courage. This story could have turned out very different; they may not have been legal immigrants, or even good people. Notwithstanding, charity is an act of kindness, not approval. I'm OK with that. Your property, your call.

The only thing I understand is they were on private property.
No permission to be there. Cannot communicate.
Ever hear of MS 13, drug runners, kidnappers and all the other friendly folks you want in you house.
The OP was lucky. Good for him.
You and anyone else had better ask for permission to be on my property or in my home or any one of my outbuildings.

That's all. Don't need to be banned over this.

How a man treats the poor and the weak says a lot about his character, and I expect will be taken into account on the Day of Judgement. Many people today seem to have hard hearts and a certain poverty of spirit. It warms my heart to know that there are still those who will go out of their way to help those in need. My hat's off to you Jinglebob.

Amen, brother.

You bring up a valid point. In my post above I was torn between the people being illegals and the moral thing to help the poor and needy. The decision for me was simple, these people had been traveling on foot for up to a hundred miles in oppressive and deadly heat with women and children, there was only one thing to do and that was to nourish the weak. We have border patrol to deal with and deport. Reminds me of the United States refusal to accept a boat load of Jewish people trying to escape Hitler. The US refused to accept them and sent them back.

Sure!!!! just type in like, like instead of pizza, pizza. :D

In my area-we have a huge load of pobs with illegals and them committing all-kinds of crimes--ms-13, crips, bloods, pistoleros--no thank you. No support for law-breakers--just support for those who come in and do things correct.

Sorry about thread drift, but those doga are beautiful dogs. Ive never has a "Lassie" but had a beautiful English Shepard named Friskey.
