Shield vs SD9VE

The SD9 is out of production and has been replaced by the SD9VE.

Pistols | Smith & Wesson

I hate to burst your bubble, but, you're wrong. Academy Sporting Goods has teamed up with S&W to offer the ACEDEMY EXCLUSIVE SD9 & SD40. They have been around, again, since 2015. My son bought me an SD9 a couple of months ago. Now that they have the $25 rebate going on I'm going to buy the SD40.
BTW, I added a pic of my (2) month old (born on date 12/7/16) SD9 down below.

ok, what is the difference between them? Is it just the black slide vs SS? I wonder why S&W don't list it as one of their current pistols on the company website?

The SD9VE & SD40VE are still around. The SD9 & SD40 have a more aggressive stippled grip, HI-VIZ sights, an all black SS slide with the new S&W ARMORNITE coating, and a 7 lb. trigger.
I own (5) of the (6) SD/SDVE series of guns. I have only the SD40 to buy and my set is complete.
As to why S&W doesn't list it on their site, I have no clue. Maybe you can call them and ask. 1-800-331-0852
