Ok guys,
I'm from GA and will be flying into Chicago in September. From there, we will be driving to South Bend, IN to go to the Notre Dame/Georgia game. We fly in Wed and stay till Sunday. On Friday, we will be coming back to Chicago to catch a Cubs game. (not a cubs fan, sorry but I am a baseball fan and will always enjoy going to different stadiums) This will be my first time visiting your great state. My questions are:

1. I've never flown. What is the best way to get my CC on (if at all possible) the airplane?

Edit: to avoid further confusion, I am not talking about actually trying to conceal carry on the plane. I just want to get my firearm to the same place I am going.

2. What are the carrying laws in Illinois, both in the vehicle and on person?

3. If I can't carry in Chicago, will I be safe in the area of Wrigley?

4. If anyone knows, does Indiana recognize the CC permits of other states?

Thanks in advance for any information/input. If anyone has some links where I can find additional information, feel free to post them up. I have already researched some of these questions, but value some of the experienced's views on these topics.

I'll only address the first question. Let me clarify my original post. If you are talking about CC onboard an aircraft, forget it. Unless you are a sky marshal it is not going to happen. PERIOD. You will probably be arrested if you attempt to do so. If you are talking about checked baggage, check with the airline. The policies vary from carrier to carrier. Delta just changed their procedures.

As to the rest, I will let those more familiar with IL laws comment. My only observation is this. You stated you had done some research. Even a cursory search should have revealed some of the misguided attempts to carry a weapon in Chicago. I personally would never attempt to do it. I don't think it is worth the risk.

I'm not a complete moron, lol. No, i knew that gun on my person on the airplane was not happening. Checked baggage (i didnt know the term) I guess was what i was talking about. I wasnt aware if they even let you take a firearm at all.

in a word.............

1) Already answered.
2) If you have a valid CCW from GA then you can have a loaded firearm in your car while traveling thru IL. However, if you leave your vehicle then the firearm must be secured in your vehicle.
3) The area around Wrigley is pretty safe. It's not like the west or south sides.
4) Someone who knows IN CCW laws will need to answer.

The area around Wrigley Field is very safe .. if your staying there is a hotel about 6 blocks from it Hawthorne Terrace Hotel its 3 stars .. we walked to the game .. we walked around at 3 in the morning that area never sleeps .. many places to eat and the area right around the stadium is all CUB's merchandise ..

Wrigley has metal detectors you go thru when entering .. No Firearms Allowed !!

if you have a CCL from your home state you can carry in your car .. but don't get out .. Illinois doesn't recognize but few CCL's from other states and that is changed on a whim by officials .. so check the day your traveling ..

Edit .. The hotel I mentioned is just a few blocks off Interstate 55 and is very easy to get to and there is a parking garage next door with free hotel parking .. parking is a problem anywhere in Chicago ..

Thanks for your input, all. And thanks for the links and info. Keep it coming if you have experience in this part of the country!

So far as I know, Indiana will honor your Ga. CPL. However you probably will not be allowed to carry on College property.
Between Ft Wayne and Chicago is Gary, In. One of the most unfriendly places I have ever been.

Don't do it

Illinois does not honor any other state's concealed carry law. Period. I live here and have a CC permit, and also a Utah non resident to help with travel. Illinois's concealed carry is among the most restrictive in the nation, and was only passed at the last minute pending a lawsuit. Be careful carrying here if you are not a resident with a CCW or hold an Illinois non resident CCW, which, buy the way, cost $300, double the resident cost.
