Boys I haven't in years. My Mom used her two little fingers and you could here it a half mile. Folks used to whistle tunes and all. Has it become socially unacceptable?

I whistled a tune today. I am a ditch digger by trade, 25 years in installing utilities such as water main lines and sewer mains. I've discovered a quirk of mine, whenever I'm digging around other utilities such as gas, electric, or communication I whistle when I'm free and clear of them. Not sure if it's just the way that I come down from stress or if it's satisfaction of a safe dig.
That being said, now thinking about it, you don't see people whistling as a general rule. Interesting observation.

Waitress at a restaurant I frequent was whistling during a slow period. I reminded her that some believe whistling indoors can cause the roof to fall down.

At 27, I whistle frequently. As a teacher of seniors, my current tune most oft whistled is the graduation marching song. Get em out!

I whistle part of a tune now and then while listening to the satellite oldies feed at work. Gets me some strange looks.

I remember when I was a kid I had the devil of a time learning to whistle. For some reason I just couldn't master it. I eventually found that I could whistle by sucking air in easier than I could by blowing it out. I was maybe six or so when an older family member asked at Thanksgiving dinner if I could whistle. I replied, "No, but I can sucksle." I couldn't figure out why that brought the house down.

I don't whistle well, but I whistle at the dog and little one pretty regularly. Lol
