When is the last time you heard anyone whistle?

All of the time

I whistle all of the time, when I'm not fighting the computer, or reading, especially when i'm working with tools building something. It is like softly, under my breath, like humming. I whistle all kinds of tunes, and mix them. I was wondering if I was the only one that done this, and feel much better now that I find that others do it also. Whistling in it's many forms has been a part of our culture for ever. As to the ones that don't like whistling, they are missing out on a lot of our history. I am old enough that I even remember the great "Whistler" Elmo Tanner. If you are really interested in whistling, and want to hear a master of the art, look up, Elmo Tanner & Whistling on Google.

I like whistling old Western TV show themes and martial tunes. Anyone else remember the theme from Tombstone Territory?

I do--tho my attempts to do so--are not desirable. Some movies themes I like to think I'm good at aping--are the: Colonel Bogey March from The Bridge Over the River Kwai--and The Great Escape-theme.

Whistle while you work

There's a 75-ish parking attendant/security guard at the building housing my cardiologist. The guy is constantly whistling the standards and he is certainly good enough to have been used in a movie if needed. The old gent is amazing.

The Good, The Bad and the Untuned

I'm a guitar picker and you other guitar pickers should pick up that one or more instruments in that youtube ensemble above are out of tune.

I work at a auto dealership with about 25 techs, before calculating the body shop and others, often whistling is the easiest way to get someones attention over the sound of the cars, tools, and air compressors. I'd be hard pressed to say I don't hear a whistle at least once a day.

As for people whistling songs, probably sometime this week...

And just about everyone who's seen this movie has whistled this song...Including my two younger sisters, as a sort of family thing...

I still whistle a lot....a loud whistle was how I called may children back home when they were scattered all-over the neighborhood years ago. Now, I whistle in my grand-kids. :) They all know my whistle and what it means.

There's a book called " Find your whistle" by Christopher Ullman that might interest whistlers.
He was the chief spokesperson for the SEC, currently manages global communications for the Carlisle Group and is a four time international whistling champion and currently the best whilstler in the world!
