This is not a generic "what holster for my Shield" question but a specific question. I currently own an Alien Gear paddle holster and it works fine. However, what I don't care for is how far it sticks out from my body. I would like to find an OWB holster that holds the and places the pistol tighter to my body.
Any suggestions?

I too went with an aliengear OWB holster for my first holster. While they're comfortable, nothing beats IWB. I didn't think i'd have enough room in my pants (every guy's dream line to say to a woman) but i do. And it's so much more comfortable as well. I would recommend you find an all kydex IWB holster. I've been sampling a shooter industries holster off of ebay for a bit now and my gun never leaves the holster. i would seriously recommend one of them, and if you buy, tell him i sent you!

I'd look at one of the kydex manufacturers. I'm in North Carolina and the guy I buy from is IBX Tactical.com. see if there's a local guy like that in your area. I use the IWB and OWB. He also suggested the Volund Gear Works belt and that makes a huge difference.

I have an R. Grizzle leather Georgia Snap for my Glock 43 and it pulls the gun in super tight. Also has the added bonus of being a snap loop design so easy on and off if need be.

Ryan does great work and I will go to him again in the future for holster needs.

Of course it is leather, so if looking for kydex he is not your guy, and he isn't cheap nor quick. But good things come to those who wait!

For a quality, OWB, High & Tight hold,
*Mitch Rosen Upper Limit Express*:D

Must be paired with a quality carry belt;)

Once broken in, it's as superior a rig as there is :)

I went with a Desantis thumb break holster for my 45 shield I have been very happy with it. It fits snugly and contours to my hip. It easily hides it under a button up shirt. It's a well made and was reasonably priced.

I'm carrying a Shield 9 in a Don Hume 721OT. It has a body shield but no thumb break/strap. The same holster with a thumb strap is the 721. Holds the gun snug against my side, but not enough to dig in. I'd say it's a very good value.

All mine are leather from ElPaso saddlery.
Only have 4 currently.
5th on the way a shoulder rig for when Im motorcycling.

Looks good as well and I know you said you have one for your Shield but it doesn't appear it's available for the Shield 9 according to the selector.

Don Hume doesn't actually sell from their web site. I usually start with Gunners Alley when I want Hume stuff (which I do with some regularity.) They frequently have things that the Hume web site doesn't. At the moment they show both black and brown in stock for right hand holsters for the 9/40 Shield, with left hand models on preorder. Check out Don Hume H721-OT Belt Holster

BTW, the same holster fits the Walther PPS just about equally well. When I had magazine spring problems with my Shield, I just carried a PPS in the holster for the week it took to get new springs for the Shield.

Thanks for pointing me in that direction. I originally thought I wanted Kydex but, looking at these as well as the other leather ones suggested, I am interested.

If you ever try a Panther Concealment OWB kydex you'll never want anything else. Take a look at it on their website. Best OWB body hugging holster I have ever used and I'm a leather guy.

Rosen Upper Limit is great as suggested.Wife likes crossdraw and carries her Shield 9 in one but for the Shield 45,the Panther is spectacular. Very unique design with adjustable tension. Specially made for your own belt width.
