Where do you buy your new smiths?

Last new Smith I bought was in 1977, at a LGS.

The only Smiths I've purchased since have been used from individuals, LGSs, Internet and gunshows.

Got my 686-6 locally... $740 + $74 tax = $814. Maybe I overpaid a little but I'm not losing sleep over it. 2017 has been a great year and I've made nearly as much in OT as I have in straight time pay... hence all the extra cash for things like this.

Ammo has been purchased exclusively online. A better selection at a better price.

It isn't just a S&W thing for me, but all/any firearms, always hands-on from a LGS. I'm not a collector or anything, so i'm Not always out on the hunt for rare models that never turn up where you want them. I'm also lucky to have an amazing independent store nearby that surpasses any other LGS i've ever been into with the size of their new and used firearm inventory. A place in Kittery ME anyone in the northeast is probably familiar with. That makes it a little easier to find what you want without having to surf the net. Maybe that's a luxury not all have access too.

I can't afford my LGS prices, so, always internet :D.

mr Harry, I was about to edit my post and say that I've only bought three brand new s&w products in my life. All three were from that store in Kittery Maine, and a good number of my used smiths too.

Almost exclusively from LGS, unless it is a used gun that I am looking for.

I like my LGS. He really takes care of me. If I ever have a problem with a gun I buy from him, he takes care of it.

Have a number of local guys that buy on price and when you factor in fees etc... they are usually saving less than $50. Sometimes $25 or less. I support the local guy.

I support my LGS's. I may pay a little more but that's OK.

Turtles is gone, Block Busters is gone. If my LGS is gone one day, I will be miserable!

LGS. For the most part internet can't come close. Or when they can the shipping isn't worth it

They make new ones?????????? Haven't bought a new S&W in 35 or so years. Get better prices on used ones. Buy them anywhere I can find/handle them, LGS or gunshows or private sales.

LGS so I can inspect it in person. I passed on a new 629 Stealth Hunter the day before yesterday at a LGS because the front sight was installed improperly (bent and almost falling out of the slot)... should have taken a photo to post it here.

Hopefully the Stealth Hunter I ordered front another LGS yesterday comes tight and within PC specs.

Internet, LGS can't come close to price, plus I always get a NIB firearm, not handled, not dry fired. I would like to by local, but price is the deciding factor, I also buy powder and primers on the internet, it's the new way of life.

The few LGS here are WAY overpriced and usually have a very small selection of ANYTHING. What they have is typically black and mostly plastic anyway

As far as I know, there is not a single new S&W revolver for sale in the Roanoke valley,,
so, if you want a revolver, it is on line,, or wait for the next gun show.
Black plastic guns are so common, and cheap, they are almost sold in vending machines.

So, IMHO, the answer depends on what you are shopping for,,,

Where does everybody buy there new smiths?

I have a very good working relationship with one of my local gun dealers. If there's something new I want, I'll go down and ask if they can order it for me, and what the price will be. Historically, that price has always been within a few dollars of the best price I've been able to come up with on the internet. :)

In those few instances where the local dealer has been unable to find what I was looking for; this has never applied to new Smith & Wessons, by the way, I've gone ahead and arranged for an internet purchase, and FFL to FFL transfer through that same local dealer. :)

New Smiths

New Smiths I buy from LGS, internet is for used guns that I can't find locally. If LGS has a used Smith I want I buy there
several small LGS near me and almost always cheaper than big box store or internet. Also several in-state dealers at local gun shows who deal fairly and have good selection. I have had very good experiences on GB but will always try LGS first.

LGS. Always! Raymond's Gun & Supply in Danville, VA. He has out the door prices that beat gun shows, internet & all other gun stores. I know, I'vechecked & NO ONE beats his prices! NO ONE!!!
