This is where I normally post what happened each day at the SHOT show for me. I an going to tart by apologizing to any of you that wee looking forward to some photos and text each night.

So many things went wrong that I should have never went to Vegas this year.

SHOT changed how they issue Media Credentials, but never told anyone. So the automatic credentials I (and others) have been receiving for the past decade+ never showed up. Once I realized nothing had arrived I began the process of applying. However they closed off Media badges before I could get it accomplished.

So I was only left with late registration and a BIG fee for registering late. They were nice and waived the late fees. It was only a few hundred dollars which was no big deal to them, but a good hit to my wallet.

The Hotel lost my reservation. Marriott did find me accommodations at a different property so that was livable since I caught it before leaving Florida

On the day of the flight to Vegas the passenger two rows behind me informed the Stewardess he had an Anthrax Bomb.

We had not pushed away from the gate yet so authorities removed him and his wife from the aircraft, took their luggage off and then brought the dogs on board to search both the passenger and the baggage compartments

So you see the flow of things so far.

After the first day at SHOT I opened my laptop to start this awful thread and my computer would not start up :(

So I called it a day and plugged my phone and camera into the multi-USB port charger and went to sleep (yes after a nice drink or three)

When morning came I learned that charger went bad overnight and most of my devices did not received a full charge

So I gave up on the idea of trying to provide an informative thread and enjoyed the show while going about my meetings.

Today I returned to Florida on the RED Eye, leaving Vegas just after midnight their time and arriving just before 8AM Eastern time.

So we all deplaned and headed down to baggage carousel A9 to get out luggage. After about 2/3s of the folks had retrieved their bags, the FIRE ALARM sounded. Truthfully none of us left and the alarm reset or was turned off after 15-20 minutes. However by this time no more bags were coming out and the carousel had stopped with a good 1/3 of my fellow passengers (and me) waiting . . . . 10 Minutes, 20 Minutes, and more. We found the baggage office and they said the rest of the luggage would be their shortly.

20+ minutes latter the carousel sprang back to life and more bags passed through the mystic curtain. Alas, my suitcase was not one of them

Back to the baggage office for them to scan the bar-code on my luggage claim check, I was not surprised to learn that there was no scan of my bag coming off the plane.

About four hours later I got the phone call that my bag had arrived in Orlando (just a quick hour drive from my house). They of course offered to deliver it to my doorstep.

Within minutes I received an E-mail from a third party delivery company that said I would have my suitcase no later than 8PM tonight. They also provided me a way to let them drop it a my door without a signature or anyone at home.

Yeah, like that is going work

After another call, I was promised delivery by 3:30.

We will see where it goes from their.

Sorry for my little steam venting and I will post a few things from the show, however no pictures this year.

I promise NEXT Year will be much better

As many of you know, I am a BIG fan of the 356TSW cartridge.

There is a force attempting to resurrect this fine cartridge.

Perhaps a month or so ago the Public learned that CORBON was once again offering ammunition in this chambering

At almost the same time, the Public learned that CORBON had been sold and was no longer controlled by the Pi family

So for many folks this put the issue of 356TSW up in the air.

I spent much time with the NEW CORBON and they are still dedicated to providing the followers of 356TSW a place to purchase ammunition

This is perhaps due to the fact that CORBON was acquired by a private owner and not some big faceless conglomerate.

Depending on how well the 115 JHP offering sells, CORBON has shown a desire to expand the loadings offered for this cartridge

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?;)

You all might recall that Colt recently re-introduced a revolver called the Cobra.

Last year I posted pictures and my shooting impressions

Well this years NEW introduction is the Night COBRA.

Pretty much the same poorly finished revolver now in a dark color rather than the bare stainless it was originally introduced in.

The Night COBRA does have a factory bobbed hammer for pocket carry.

I have no doubts that the Night COBRA will shoot just as well as the COBRA did, it just is not pretty.

I stopped by the NEW AutoMag folks

They had half a dozen or so variations on display.

I asked what was shipping TODAY.

Only the high polish guns in both barrel lengths.

when asked what their delivery time was, I was told that they were currently 1800 guns behind in shipment.

So I asked if I ordered on today, would I have it before Christmas. They were not sure

I must say, the high polish guns did look and feel very good. I can not comment on how they shot

I am told that uppers chambered for 45 Winchester Magnum and 357AMP were in the works for release this year.

My friend was there and sent me a pic of this, did you see it? Not that I either need or want it. 45 acp

I handled SIGs new model P365

It is small and compact and the trigger was not bad.

I did not shoot it, but I am sure lots of these will sold, shot and carried by those of us that like the SIG firearms

If you have not already noticed, HK has had two price drops in the last year. Including one that was announced at the SHOT Show

While still expensive, they really come more into line with prices.

As usual, there was no shortage of companies offering anything that you can imagine for the AR platform.

Uppers, lowers or complete firearms could be found in calibers ranging from 22LR to 45ACP to 45-70 and even 12 gauge versions

Stocks, rails, sights and grips, the variations were HUGE.

For hanging off the accessory rails there were your usual suspects.....lights, lasers and combos.

Or if you felt a little more defensive there were gas launchers, 12 gauge shotguns and even a little 22 that took Ruger 10/22 style magazines.

American Defense Innovations did have a retractable bayonet on display that mounts under the firearm. I only glanced at it, but it looks mean

Did anyone happen to go by the sporting shotgun and rifle areas or were those areas relegated to the back of the bus for the black plastic entourage?

Thank you for that report colt__saa. As the saying goes, Murphy was an optimist.

I've had luggage lost on three separate occasions. What I've discovered is that it appears that when you call the airline lost luggage number you get not the airline, but a contractor. The job of the contractor is to placate you by lying about the status of your luggage and it's delivery. If you call at 11:00PM, they will tell you that your luggage is "on the truck" and will arrive in an hour or two. Which is BS. If you are silly enough to stay up until 1:00AM and call, they will assure you that it will be there by 3:00AM. You will eventually, if you get the odd employee that is not full of manure, find out that the last truck (which is really a mini van) leaves the airport around 10:00PM and if your bag isn't on it, it will sit for another 24 hours.

I once got (I don't know how) the number of the mini van driver. She was less than happy that I had it, but I told her that there was a checked firearm in one of those bags and if I didn't have the bag in my hand within an hour I'd be calling the state police to report that she had stolen said arm. It was a great motivator.

I've always wanted to go to the SHOT show, but have no practical way to get any sort of credentials. I've attended several NRAAMs with press credentials, and enjoyed that.

Finally, why is it that every firearms company on the planet makes parts or complete 1911 or AR platform guns? I guess the answer is because they sell, but it sure makes for a boring display show.

I should note that Glock makes neither, but they really are a niche company with essentially one firearm.

Thanks for the posts.

What are these Sporting Shotguns and rifles of which you speak?

In almost 3/4 of a million square feet of exhibits there was a shotgun or two

I always go to the Krieghoff booth just to make sure my drool glands still work

Sorry to hear about the rough ride. I attended SHOT/media day. Same old thing, different year. If it wasn’t for black rifle/tacticool stuff, they could hold SHOT at the local Denny’s.

In a very interesting move on the part or Taurus, the J-frame sized model 85 family of snubbies have all been discontinued

New 6 shot snubbies replace the older models with a 6 shot capacity, similar weight and similar price point.

The few that I handled seamed nice.

Unfortunately it seems that the future is in tacticool stuff. It seems sadly that the double action revolver has become almost the anachronisim as the Single Action and the beautiful shotguns and rifles will be relegated to the back shelf next to the old thuty thuty. There are more tactical warriors running around that hunters. Hell, I'm guilty. But I'm kinda regressing-I've had more fun with the old Moisen Nagant and yugo SKS I just got than I can remember. It's kinda cool shooting groups with these old war horsed next to someone with modern weapons. I'm really looking forward to taking game with both of them.

I preferred going to the Fausti booth and hug the sisters..........; THEN it was onto the Perazzi display.

Man your trip was seriously cursed, Oneounceload! Geez.
Did you wear a tinfoil hat and stay at home clutching a bottle of scotch for a few days after you got back?

Did not attend, but interested in getting my hands on a Sig P365 to check it out.
Big sporting shotgun user/fan so would be very interested to hear what some of the manufacturers that cater to trap, skeet, sporting clays, 5Stand, even slightly tactiCool 3Gun have to offer this year. I saw an article that Barrett (apex of tactiCool fame) was going to offer what looked to be a very nice sporting O/U!

Anything new in the Colt 1911 realm? Did they look depressed?

Hello, Fausti ladies.
