I never read how he did himself in, anybody catch that? Liked his show, not his respect for our president though.

I usually start my day reading "thoughts" better than mine. One favorite is Marcus Aurelius. Many "meditations" begin: "Soon, you will be dead....." Puts my day in a crystal clear perspective. Some folks miss the obvious such as this fellow. Joe

Can't say I'm familiar with Anthony Bourdain, but the name does ring a bell somewhere deep in the hollows of my brain. I guess I don't watch enough TV. Prayers for the family he left behind, especially if he had one as young as 14. That is a horrible way to treat the family you left behind. Leaving them all wondering about what they might have missed, or could have done better, and wondering forever if they could have "somehow known how bad it was", and been able to help.

Nope, it's a selfish chicken soup way out. I thought the same thing when Robin Williams checked out, but feeling sorry for the family left behind,......wondering.......

He wrote a very interesting expose of the 'culinary world' called Kitchen Confidential. It really lays out what the restaurant business is all about and how it operates.

Yes, learned of him from his first book, said to be written as an expose for fellow food people 'in the business'. Made best seller, and launched a career. Always enjoyed his alternative viewpoint, and traveled vicariously to world destinations. Rest in Peace.

Very sad. A permanent solution to a temporary problem. If we all stood in a circle and tossed our problems in the middle to share, most of us would grab our own back very quickly . . .

Interesting analogy, never thought about it like that. Lots of truth there. I would think most of us have more to be thankful for than not.

He never seemed that angry to me. He purposely hung out with ranchers and other rural folks who he admitted he was not politically in agreement with, but had great conversations with. I never seen him mock anyone. And he loved to shoot guns whenever he could. Yet didn’t think we should own certain ones. He hunted a lot onhis show though he didn’t like it. But said if you eat it you should be able to kill it.
He was very opinionated which I like. We’re all opinionated but don’t all express it ready to catch heat for it. He outlasted his liver. His funnest shows were sometimes him getting blasted which is why his show had a warning. I think people either liked him or didn’t with not much in between. I liked him.

Enjoyed his shows.

Sorry to see a few here who haven't
a clue as to the mental psych and what
makes someone take their own life.
Maybe none of us really do until it's too
late.

I'm always more than a little taken aback at how quick some people are to start badmouthing someone who's just passed away. It sure didn't take long in this instance.
