The last Shield I had was the 45, and I'm sure most here are aware of the disassembly/reassembly difficulty with the 7 round magazine for that model. Is that the case with the 8 round magazine for the Shield 2.0 9mm? Just curious, really...I don't have a Shield 2.0 9mm...yet...and I tried searching for the answer but didn't find anything. Also, is anyone using the Pearce grip extensions on their 9mm mags? I liked them on my 6 round Shield 45 mags, when I had it.

No, the disassembly of any of the 9mm/40mm magazines is simple and easily done with a small tool to depress the button on the bottom. Not a chore at all. And yes, I use the pearce grip extension on my 7 round magazines and prefer to carry with them. Makes the gun perfect hand size.

I've only taken apart the mags for my Shield (Pc 9) once to clean and it was a basic process. I also put a Pierce extension on my 7 rounder
Mags are not a problem at all on the 2.0 9mm...I only use the 8 rounders with the magguts +2 spring system and the grip is perfect.
Which makes me wonder why S&W couldn't have designed the .45 7 round magazine differently.

Never had an issue with the 9mm mag disassembly on mine. Basic design and function. It is odd that S&W would make the 45 mags different. Maybe to make sure they didn't accidently come apart because of the recoil?
The 6 round mag for the Shield 45 is just like the other magazines (9/40.) The 7 round magazine is the one with the different design. I don't know why...the tubes are the same, it's just the floor and base plate that's different. So, I don't think it has to do with recoil. Maybe it was just designed on a Friday 13th by an engineer with either a wicked sense of humor or retirement papers filed.
