I have a 4" M&P compact M2.0 in 9mm. I have a TLR-1 mounted on it. I had to mount the weapon light on the most forward slot in the rail, otherwise it would interfere with the trigger guard. It appears to me that this light will not mount on the 3.6" version because that slot is not there. The most outboard slot corresponds with the second slot on the 4"model.

So I'm wondering whether anyone has successfully mounted a TLR-1 light on a 3.6" M2.0. A photo would help.

Thanks.

I also have a 4" 2.0 with a tlr1 on it. I'm on vacation right now, but when I get home this weekend, I'll throw the tlr1 on my 3.6" and let you know the results.

Nope. Just checked it out. The third slot that's missing on the 3.6 is definitely needed to mount the TLR-1. I don't see any easy way to do it either. Something smaller like the TLR-7 would be a better choice for a compact anyway, as the -1 is pretty bulky.

OK. Thanks. That's what I thought.
So I will have a look at newer TLR products.

This. TLR 7 is great on this model

There is also a TLR 3 that could work.
Any thoughts on comparison of these two lights?

The -7 is brighter at 500 lumens and has a machined aluminum housing. The -3 is only 125 lumens and has a polymer housing. I think the weight is pretty similar between the two, despite the differences in material. I can't really comment on battery life outside of the manufacturer's specs.

A lot of people, myself included, tend to prefer the aluminum housing as it's sturdier, and could potentially hold up better under hard use. I've seen a handful of reports of some of the polymer Inforce lights (different brand, I know) not making it through a training class without the case breaking. It's a matter of personal preference, but all things being equal, I'd rather have the aluminum model.

I have half a dozen various handheld and rail mount Streamlights. The only issue I've ever had with any of them was with a rail mount ProTac. I had a loose Pic rail and mistakenly thought it was the light itself. I got a little ham-fisted tightening it onto my AR and stripped the tension knob threads. Streamlight replaced the light, no questions asked.
