It seems like it would give you more room for your your fingers. Since everyone complains about not being able to get their pinky on there. But then I guess it gives you less real estate on the sides to get a good grip. I am thinking about trying a set out, just to see what I think. I'd probably have to wrap some rubber bands around them to give them some stickiness......

I like them on my Model 60 (.38spl) BUT they are improved with a silver Tyler T-Grip.

I have them on my 60 and 66, also with Tyler T's.

Perfect fit for my medium size hands, those with larger hands may prefer something else.

Magnas and a T grip are the best combo for pocket carry on my M38s and M40s.

If I carried a j frame in a holster (why would I carry a pocket pistol in a holster?), then the bulky, bigger, grips would be a consideration.

But if I want to carry a revolver in a holster, I'll carry a K frame

Magnas and a Tyler on a steel RB J frame are a great compromise: they still offer max concealability, with a good grip. On a SB J frame, they are even better.

For me, an aluminum RB J frame kicks enough that I need to omit the Tyler in order to keep my middle finger from getting rapped. An aluminum SB J frame works fine with a Tyler.

Many Pachmayr grips, and S&W J-frame target grips, as well as numerous other aftermarket grips, work even better than Magnas and a Tyler, but many or most reduce concealability in most circumstances, which sort of fights the purpose of the J frame revolver. However, for belt carry, the J is still light, and many of these large grips work just fine, and are probably ideal, in such an application.

I have a set of S&W J frame wooden banana grips for my model 60 short bbl revolver that are the most comfortable shooting. But then I have a pair of S&W black rubber 3 finger combats that I ordered from Smith & Wesson probably 5 years ago that are the best combination of comfortable and concealable.

I've tried them but w/my XLG hands they're just too small. I like to run a set of wood boot grips or the older Herritts that cover the backstrap w/a TGrip.

Depends upon which J-frame.

I can get into an XL glove with a bit of staining and pulling. A XXL is just about right.

I have taught my self to be comfortable and accurate with magnas and a Tyler T-grip on my Baby Chiefs.

I prefer Craig Spegel's boot grips especially made for a Baby.

If it's a magnum Centennial, I want a better hold so I go with Karl Nill.

I too like the Magna's with a grip adapter. To take it a little further, I prefer a Barami Hip Grip with the grip adapter, the reason being the shelf of the Hip Grip gives me somewhere to lay my trigger finger (XXXL glove) for a better angle on the trigger.

Absent that, Boot grip for sure.
