USPSA

Shot my first match last week as well; placed 60th out of 74 shooters with M&P 40 Limited. For the last year or so all I had was my Taurus .380 due to financial limitations; so I was a little rusty. I got Alpha and Charlie combos on most every target; main problem was my time which regular training should hopefully take care of. I'm probably gonna wait to go full bore on this or 3 gun and (hopefully) cowboy shoots until I train for another three months or so and get my reloading started.

Shot my 1st match last week. Production with a CZ75B. It was a riot. I will bring my 19111 next time.

Just remember you can't shoot Production with a 1911, and the rules are different for Single Stack (holster position, etc). SS is a lot of fun to shoot!

PC1911 in SS once in a great while
and
either a 625-8 5in or 38 super 627-4 in Revo depending on mood.

Used to goof off with that 627 in open using the comp and delta point, not competitive in the least bit, but it sure is fun. For L1 matches other guys with "open revolvers" would plan to shoot revolver class with them (I know you can't you have to sign up for open blah blah blah but it's a L1 match and more than 9 times out of 10 I'm the only one who shoots revolver) once in a great while so we can go head to head on the score sheets. It's only for bragging rights anyway

I started USPSA 10 years ago shooting a S&W 645 in Limited10 division.
I bought a Springfield Armory 1911 and started shooting it with 10 round mags, also in Limited10. I later moved to Limited with an SVI 2011. The Springer is now exclusively a Single stack gun. and I recently added a 5.25 XDm for those rare excursions into Production.

Looks like a ton of fun. Not sure what I will try first, single stack with my Sig 1911 or production with my M&P 9 Pro. Shoulder still healing.

Again thanks for all the replies.

Go for it. It's great fun and highly addictive.
After my first match, it took about three weeks to wipe the grin off my face.
I recommend the M&P in production to start. More rounds make it easier for a newbie. You will make a lot of mistakes at first and ammo is your friend.

I shoot a Model 10 in the Revolver class.
As I am the only revolver shooter I ALWAYS take 1st place in revolver...........

wyo-man

I shoot a 625JM. Its a blast. I have also shot in Production a lot with my Glock 34 but I never have as much fun with an auto-loader as I do with my Revolver. For my gear, I use a Double Alpha Race Master holster for my revolver and the James Austin MoonClip Server which is amazing. It all sits on a Double Alpha Competition Belt. With the new rule change, Im trying to get my hands on the new 929 8-shot 9mm because I already load a bunch of 9mm.

Should be fun to shoot.

I agree with this ^^^. I have shot 2 matches started with a Glock 19 with borrowed belt, holster, pouches. I just picked up new M&P 9 PRO yesterday. Looking to get setup so I can use it next week DAA belt, blade tech Black Ice DOH holster but still looking for mag pouches if anyone has any input on which ones?

Agreed. My 625 has been "retired" in favor of a 627 for USPSA revolver. The 8 shooter is a lot more fun.

Have a another 627 that's magnaported with a C-more (ICORE Open gun really) that's fun to shoot in Open. Pointless in a way because It's not competitive shooting minor and reloading after 8 rds against major semi-autos holding 32 rds but it is FUN...

Still shooting the G19 and been struggling with it. I should be all setup with new setup next week to shoot the M&P 9 PRO. I hope it helps me some!

Seems I'm addicted to the M&P line for all the games. I run Production, Limited (40), and Open (9major). The Shield for IDPA.

I shot my first 3 matches in production with a Springfield XDM 5.25. Should have been in limited, as it requires less reloading. This gun is very accurate for me.
Loving revolvers my whole life, shot 3 matches with a 8 shot S&W 627-2 minor power factor, then twice in major PF with a 40 caliber S&W 610-2, 3 7/8 in barrel.
Have a gold bead front sight on the 627 that has to go. I had more alpha hits with the 610, but slowwwwww reloading! Then I ended up with a few FTF's, throwing my scores down the tubes! 6 shooters in USPSA are for personal fun for sure. not only do they not compete with the 8 shooters, they really don't seem fit most of the stages. You get to stand and reload, then move and reload and have less shots to waste on extra attempts.
Unfortunately in my club out of 60 participants there are only 2 of us revolver shooters, making it not so competitive or fun.
I'm heading back with the XDM next time out, shooting limited and see if I can move along a bit better!

Got started shooting Single Stack. Then Production. Moved to Limited (40) with a built Para, now 2011 STI. Very fun!
Haven't had the guts yet to campaign Revolver and get spanked, but I will at some point. My revo "speed" loading is anything but. Timed in minutes. :o

I haven't shot USPSA in a few years but when I first started, I was using a Sig 1911 C3 in single stack. Then I bought a Glock 17 and started using it in Production. I'm getting a 627 in the next month and will be using it once I get enough moon clips and either make or buy a moon clip rack.

Production I was running a CZ SP-01 Shadow Custom, but have been playing around with Ruger's Security 9 at local matches lately and really enjoy it. In limited I use a Rock Island 2011 Match Ultra in .40 and Springer mag extensions. I had an STI Edge in .40 but actually prefer the Rock Island over it. Single Stack is just a 1911 that I built 25 years ago with an Essex frame and AMT ribbed slide.

In NZ we use the IPSC designations and I shoot Classic (single stack) Division. I mainly shoot a Springfield Armoury 1911 .45 in Major.

If shooting minor it is my Kimber Stainless II 1911 9mm in the holster.

Rig for both is a John Lett Wild Bunch rig with four double mag pouches (one behind the holster for weak hand stages)

I've only gone once. I WILL go back though. My focus isn't points, it's just "getting off the X" and shooting unfamiliar targets. It's as close as I want to get, to an actual gunfight. I don't memorize the targets. I used my Sig 224 .40. Since I don't care about points, I wonder whether they'll allow a Five-seveN?

It's been awhile, but my USPSA # started with an A then 4 digits. Was a Cert. RO. Back then I shot a 1911, Springfield Armory, which started off as a plain GI model and I processed into a 2 tone custom. Used an Ernie Hill Leatham/Enos holster. Had a lot of fun, worked as RO in several Nationals in Barry IL.
