The 'unofficial' 58 Club

I have found my PC Magnas very comfortable even using full power loads after many rounds, I have always been looking for another set for my 27 , 5” barrel . I hope you enjoy your 58 , as I sure do mine , I had a friend make me a left hand shoulder holster for mine . Regards Paul

I recently added an old Pachmayr grip adapter, which really made this gun more comfortable (for me anyway) to shoot. I wanted to be able to use the original PC Magna grips.

My 58 finally came home along with a 640 and 28-2. It took longer than expected but I am happy to now be an official unofficial member. The first two pics are from my earlier information gathering post and the last is my S&W collection which seems to be growing quicker than I had anticipated.

Is it just me or are 58s getting harder to find... There are usually at least a half dozen on GB at any one time and now only a few most of which are way over priced...

...maybe the word finally got out this is one of the best gun/caliber combinations S&W ever made...

Bob , I have been thinking the same thing . Luckily I bought mine a few yrs ago , thought I pd too much at the time . Glad I did now . I only have 1 , but it gets it fair share of use . Regards, Paul

It is really too bad that when S&W brought back the 58 Classic as a -1 they included the IL. I think they would have sold a lot more of them without...for that matter if they had left the IL off the whole "Classic" series they would have sold better... I'm not even seeing any -1s around either...

And why didn't S&W bring out the same gun in .44 Magnum and .45 Colt...another missed sales opportunity....

...and how about a 658 in stainless...

biku324, the owner of that M58, stated in his post that he had the box and that those options weren't checked on the label. Sometimes, the dealer would install the TT and TH. Of course, the easiest swap was the grips. Over the years, I swap in many a TT and/or TH for my fellow police officers.

My curiosity is officially $75 worth of piqued - I sent off for a letter today. I'll post it once it's back

If there's no record of my 58 coming with TT, TH, and TS I'l have a set of raised diamond, football walnut stocks for sale, as I use Hogue Monogrips on all of my N-frames:)!

As Promised, I brought my Latest Model 58 home from jail, and took some pictures.

Serial Number S 256,511 (#11 Made Perhaps?)

Here is the short story to how I happened upon her at a LGS.

As I said before the only way we were seeing these or other n frames is older collectors were hoarding there collectibles and now are selling them as they get older. It’s a game of musical chairs. You can win if you don’t play. Now the game is slowing down. The guns that needed new homes the game is almost over again. For many decades there were no used revolvers in 357 to be seen for sale nada. My local haunts offered nothing in used n frames. Now we’re back to full scale hoarding again.
