My itchy fingers done it again.

Kenny, the beauty of the 357 mag N frames that are cut for moon clips is that using the moon clips is entirely optional. I very seldom use the moon clips that came with my 627-5 Pro. The rimmed cartridge makes moon clip use an option as the extractor works on the rims just as well as the moon clips.

Thanks . Everyone here is such a great help for us less gun educated folks.

Wow Pete, I was actually watching that auction and I am glad to see that you were the winner. It's still a decent price you won it at for the whole package, including the shipper box too. And I love the smooth targets on it also. Not a whole bunch of figure in them but in great shape.

Thank you for posting about those Rimz polymer clips, Alan, I had seen folks posting about them in other threads and wanted to give them a try but couldn't remember the company name.

Thanks Mud! I am glad the other guy jumped off when he did. We went the 15 min rule several times. Yeah, I had a banner week last week. I bought that 25-2, a 38/44 Outdoorsman, and of all things, another 4" 1961 M28. I am a sucker for M28's. My safe has taken on a pulse it is bulging so much. i got to cool down!!!

Actually, you don't absolutely need moon clips for S&W .45 ACP revolvers. The chambers have shoulders so that the cartridge headspaces just fine. Often the empties fall right out. At worst, you need to pluck or poke them out.

I've never understood why people don't like moon clips, the "original speedloader". But then there are a lot of things I don't understand. :(

That's a nice one. Firing .45 ACPs in an N-Frame is not punishing at all. As for moon clips, I like third-moon:

Where do you find the 1/3 moon clips?

Third moon clips:
They are made by Ranch Products. You can order directly from them (they don't have much of a website so you need to do snail mail).
HOME | Ranch Products

MidwayUSA has them for $6.99 / 25. Shipping will probably be more than that. Every few weeks midway offers free shipping if you spend enough.

I don't want to sound dumb as a stone, but what is the advantage to a 2 holer? I could understand if we were talking about an outhouse.:D

You know, I have been thinking about the itchy finger title. It is too easy to push that " place bid " button.

GB is NOT your friend

Yep, you got exactly the intent of the thread title. GunBroker is definitely a temptation that I see you have discovered now too. :D BTW, I looked at that 38/44 Outdoorsman you bought off GB a little while ago and that is one beautiful gun also. Great catch, Pete.

As for me, this probably concludes my gun buying for the rest of the year. I bought my 2 model 28s late December and received them in January. Then in April/May I received my custom ACW 1911. Now with this one, that makes 4 revolver/pistol acquisitions for the year and lots of money invested.

That 38/44 belonged to Rubi's ( Kenny's) brother. I bought it because I have seen the quality stuff Rubi got from the estate. I will post it soon with new Culina Pao Ferro exhibition smooth targets.

Now, about being done, you have 5 months left in this year. You cannot possibly be done.

Very nice looking gun that you got there, MUD, especially the stocks with all that grain. Check the barrel roll mark and see if it says Model 1955. Some were mismarked as model 1950. I have one that was marked wrong, but it shoots the same as the others. Enjoy shooting it.

Vettepartz, the seller did take a pic of the barrel markings and mine definitely is marked 1955. And yes, the grain in those factory stocks definitely are pretty. I can't wait to get it and see the actual condition of them and see if I can clean up the checkered area, as it looks to be dry and dirty. I'm thinking of maybe using a toothbrush and maybe Murphy's Oil Soap on them to clean them up and let them dry thoroughly and go from there.

And Pete, I'm with you about the super expensive ammo too. I didn't buy this gun to be a CCW gun but a range gun. And I am sure my reloads will shoot just peachy keen out of it and if I do want something that could be used for hunting or defense I can buy some 45 cal Gold Dot bullets and roll my own for a lot less. 45 ACP is an easy round to reload anyways.

BTW you 25-2 owners, I have a question for you. How are the throat diameters on the cylinders? Are they oversized like the 70's vintage model 29s or are they close to normal size? Because I have recently started loading some hi tek coated lead ammo for my 1911s and if they won't cause leading problems on my model 25 I will use them with this gun too.

Great snag Mudd. I just got home from the N Ga. silhouette monthly match and was shooting next to an older shooter with a 4" 625. The loads sounded like powder puff loads but he had no problem knocking down the 100 yd rams. Everyone was impressed with his shooting for the day, especially with open sights. I can see you having fun with that one.

I thought the throat diameter issue was pretty much confined to the 45 Colt?
