When I was little, I would leave the house and play all day with the other kids in the neighborhood. We came home when the street lights would turn on...... that was mom's rule.

Before I would leave the house in the morning, I would kill two large bowls of cereal. Sometimes the same brand but other times I would have two different kinds. My all-time favorites are listed below (in no particular order):

* Cap'n Crunch
* Coco Puffs
* Apple Jacks
* Coco Pebbles
* Fruit Loops

Today, I will occasionally buy a box of one of these and enjoy the thoughts of the old days.

What were your favorite cereals from back-in-the-day?

No puffed rice or Kellogg's..............
you must be a lot younger than me.

Hated Grape nuts if I was in a hurry.........................

that's when I just tipped the box and swallowed and hope I did not "Bridge" on swallows !!

We were a Cheerios family. Occasionally, we ventured so far afield as to have cornflakes.

More like the 50s and 60s tho, for me. By the 70s I was out there on my own. Bagel and cream cheese. Or maybe cream cheese on a sesame bun. With Half and Half. (Needed my calories back then!)

Whatever the stuff Tony the Tiger sold. I can't recall the name. Back then we tended to eat real food. Processed cereal was a treat because it was comparatively more expensive. My Mom often made Cream of Wheat, which I still like today and regularly make it, though it's not as good as Mom's. (Nothing ever is. ;)) She made oatmeal too, but I'd tromp on a month's worth of oatmeal to get to a bowl of her Cream of Wheat. Cinnamon toast and French toast were also common, but you asked about cereal.

Whatever brand that I could talk my Mom into buying. Wheat Puffs, Corn Flakes, because they were my Dad's favorite, Wheaties, with real men on the box and when the good stuff was gone, I ate Mom's Raisin Brand, yuck!

A friend of mine, who was in the USAFR, told me about a squadron of A-10's out of Battle Creek, MI. They were nicknamed, wait for it, "Cereal Killers!"

That is just pure genius!

Frosted Flakes, Sugar Pops, Rice Crispies Frosted shredded wheat, Raisen Bran. Yeah all the high sugar stuff.
Frosted flakes is pure comfort food. A big bowl of that and all is good.
I can't have any of those now because I would weigh 300 lbs. in no time.

Shredded Wheat and Fruit Loops and Capt'n Crunch. Still like a bowl of Cheerios from time to time.
