Is anyone buying/using full size full weight semi-auto handguns

I prefer all steel as well. I have a custom built 45acp built on a Springfield carbon steel frame and slide, Springfield stainless 5" RO with target sights, Kimber 5" Eclipse Target stainless in 38 super and CZ75 (pre B) 9mm. Not full size but have a Kimber TLE Pro 45acp that's all carbon steel.

No question the additional weight helps tame recoil. I'm also huge fan of good aggressive texture on grips and sharp checkering on the front strap and mainspring housing.

Have and very much enjoy shooting a RIA 1911-A1 and a Sig P-226 Legion. These where not bought for and are not intended for CC. They are what I enjoy at the range and when out and about in the woods/fields. For concealed carry I think something more easily concealed would be in order ... maybe like a six inch 28-2 or a five inch 625-2. :-). Sincerely. bruce.

Sure. I have a few, including 4 1911s and a few K-frames and 3rd gen semis like a 4516 and a 5906. I take them to the range, especially when we have guests in town, for them to have a little fun. Realistically, as bad as my lower back is, I'll seldom if ever carry any of them. But at least I got to tote stuff like them around in the blue suit for many years, so I darn sure don't feel like I'm missing anything! :D

I carry a 4566. Does that count? I also carry a 6906 or Glock 30. I have no problem switching between make, model, or caliber of handguns. Metal, plastic--nothing to whine about.

Just picked up a Sig P226 Legion today in 9mm SAO. I've shot my son's extensively and after 100 rounds thru mine today, I'm in love. Smooth as silk.

Silly question? The only Tupperware I have is in the kitchen where it belongs. My most recent carry purchase (not most recent actually) in my rotation.
Colt Lightweight Enhanced Officers 45acp.

Suit and tie, sport coat, H&K P 7, (PSP Model). With jeans or slacks, S&W 640, 38 Special , Walther PPK , Seecamp, both 32acp. For range fun, Walther HP, P4, or P38, all 9mm para. Also for fun and the trip to the farm,
Colt SAA's 45Colt caliber, 4 3/4 and 7 1/2 inch barrels. Just ordered the 1895 John Wesley Harden shoulder holster for the 4 3/4 Colt from El Paso Saddlery. I have no idea of how large it is going to be. Probably will need to be under the dead of winter coat. Farm revolver any way.
All steel and wood, no plastic except the stocks/grips on the P4 and the Seecamp.

Although I am primarily a revolver guy, I do have a bunch of semi auto pistols. With the exception of the KelTec P32, PPK and Firestar .40, they are all full size steel guns. I prefer Colt Government Models. At the moment I'm trying to decide what Gov't Model to buy next. The new 1911 Classic is a possibility, or the Series 70 repro, or the Gunsite Model is very tempting. If I get the Classic do I get the .45 or the .38 Super? Maybe both? I need a cheaper hobby.

I haven't carried an auto pistol, besides the P32, in years. When I did it was a Colt 1991 or a Commander. If I went back to a pistol, it would be a Gov't Model.

I just realized I do have a service sized plastic gun. Just recently bought a Glock 32 .357 pistol. The cop price was really reasonable and the store had 1,000 rounds of ball for $200. Couldn't pass it up.

Absolutely!

I keep a wonderful, Italian military turn in M92 Beretta fully loaded and hidden in my house and eventually, after I get to shoot it, I'll do the same with my S&W police turn in M5903.

I won't carry those big guns but definitely they are kept around and ready for use.

Next size down, like a 6906, will get carried, but those full sized guns are for the house.

Revolvers and miscellaneous home defense guns are included, too, but you asked about full sized automatic pistols.

Define "full size"..... cus two of my favorite carry guns.... if I'm not carrying my Burbs of the Burgh 3913........ are my PC Shorty-9 and a old Beretta 92 "Compact" ..............

if I still carried cocked and locked it would be a Browning HP

I've started taking my Lightweight Combat Commander when I go fishing by myself down on the big river.
