Post Your Very First 5-Screw S&W

The only triple lock I have owned, a early 3 digit gun.

This is fun.
Maybe 5-6 years ago I got to wanting one of the early ones. My first was a model of 1905 , built 1909. I never get tired of looking at the grips. The lanyard ring is a nice bonus.
Worn , but tight and good.

Very nice. Does the lanyard loop go through the serial number? Other than the SN, are there any other markings on the butt?

Generally, S&W mounted the lanyard loop 1/10" forward of center (towards the front strap.)

Picked this one up last December off of GB with a winning bid of $331.02

All matching, and she's a shooter!

My first 5 screw was this J Frame, Centennial model. I picked it up at auction, 12 or 15 years ago. Before prices started for the stratosphere. I went on to acquire pre models 10, 14, 15, 17, 18, 24, 27 as well as a US Victory model, a model 1917, and a Triple Lock. Addiction is a terrible thing.

What year did they drop the 5th screw?
Did it vary from model to model?

And when did they drop the 4th screw?
