Any Veterans here have military style rifles? Be careful who you ask to help move.

Do not let people know what you have. Not even your friends, as you don't know who their friends are.

Things around here seem okay for now but with all the people moving here from more liberal states that is bound to change. I am starting to realize that Jimmy is correct. I just don't bring up guns/hunting/shooting around people anymore. I also load up for hunting/shooting in the garage. Concealed carry means just that and I work hard to avoid printing. It is amazing how fast things are changing in this country. I can only imagine how it will be when Donald Trump leaves office.

Sadly, in this day and age, this is the best advice I've ever seen given on this board.

Listen to what some of his neighbors said:

"He seemed crazy"

"He scared the kids"

"...all those machine guns"

"I feel better knowing those guns are gone"

I had a neighbor ask me if it was legal for me "to have those kind of guns you have?'

Keep in mind, the only guns he has seen me with are my patrol rifle, shotgun, and duty sidearm.

While I am in uniform.

The public is ignorant. Wait until Red Flag laws start going full tilt.

This will be nothing.

If you actually read any of the real news articles, you'll note that the kerfuffle as far as authorities were concerned was over the ordnance, not the rifles. The rifles were just innocent victims. I would expect the presence of what may or may not be live ordnance in a residential neighborhood to cause a scene in any state in the union. Further, there won't be any charges filed, and he's getting his guns back.

As an aside, you have completely misinterpreted that lesson. It is not applicable here . . .

I thought one of our board members who is an expert on the legal system recently told us this wasn't happening.
Something about comparing the situation to balancing a yardstick with a penny...

I don't get all the fear about "large caches" of weapons.

First of all, they aren't "caches" they are "collections". "Caches" are stockpiles for contingency use. "Collections" are enjoyed continuously.

Secondly, you can only shoot one at a time, and maybe carry a sidearm. Anything more is just going to slow a shooter down. It won't make him more effective. They make such a big deal out of the number when in fact it indicates the opposite of what I think they are trying to convey.

I've moved a lot. I always move "my stuff" separately.

I would sue the police department and the neighbor for false arrest and home invasion.

My response exactly. Arrested and detained in a mental facility with ZERO probable cause. Deprived of lawfully possessed property without due process of law. Time for the lawyers to crank up the printer and churn out civil summons and complaints as fast as the process servers can hand them out. Time for investigators to start tracing assets for attachment pending judgement or settlement. Time for every public official involved in this fiasco to start learning how hard it is to mortgage a home (or refinance) or buy a new car when your credit reports reflect a pending lawsuit claiming millions of dollars in damages for civil rights violations.

With a good law firm pushing hard those officials (or their insurers) would be begging to settle out of court pretty quickly.

Also a good time for the rest of us to step up and assist with this gentleman's legal costs to proceed.

...any HONEST person would admit they violated several of his Constitutional Rights...

...but where do you find an honest person in any office anymore?...

...and I guess he is done buying any more on Form 4473...he's been involuntarily held on a mental health hold now...

"Veteran had a few military style rifles, all I saw were old bolt actions, and a few other military souvenirs."

Souvenirs...as in mortars and bombs? They may or may not have been live, where does it say either way, other than commenters opinion? There's a lot more to this one than is in a 30 second news clip, so I'll be the outlier again by not jumping on the knee jerk illegal confiscation bandwagon since not one single fact is presented. And I really don't get the red flag reference by the OP, statements of neighbors would have to be presented to a judge before the order to remove the mortars and bombs...aka souvenirs... was issued. In this case, a red flag law might have offered him more protection from his concerned family members.

This would be an interesting legal case as he was released without any problem and the reason(s) for such a "visit" were incorrect. Comments from Lawyers? Dave_n

I just responded to a post this past week listing some of my revolvers.
This is probably a warning of what not to do, anyone can see this forum
and when Big Bother wants the info on who I am he will probably get
it. So those type of responses for me are over.
oh, I must have lost those over the weekend as I can't find any of those.
