Two Marines and six seconds...

-our last draftee-fed military was an actual social problem. true, many good and valiant draftees served, but an unpopular war allowed many forms of laxness and lowering of standards.

-replace haerter and/or yale with draftees? i wouldn't answer for their steadfastness

I hate to muddy this fine post, but I can't stand by and let that go by.

That is total BS. I served with draftees in Vietnam, IN COMBAT. They were excellent soldiers and preformed no worse then us enlisted.

The metal of a soldier has nothing to do with whether they are draftees or enlistees. I don't believe these two marines would have acted any different if they had been drafted.

2/3s of the Soldiers who faught in WWII were draftees, 1/3 of those who served in Vietnam were draftees. There was no difference in the proformence of these soldiers in either war.

Maybe this link will dispell some mythis about draftees
