I ran Pachmayrs on all my pistols and some revolvers back in the days when they were the hot setup.
I junked 'em all for more appropriate wood grips. The main problem/disadvantage with 'em is the indisputable fact that they retain moisture between the metal and the rubber. I learned this the hard way.
I would rather shave my head with a cheese grater while chewing on a ball of aluminum foil than ever put rubber on my handguns again.
I run Hogues on my ARs, tho'. Aluminum lowers are much less susceptible to corrosion.
OK. With that bein' said, that thing turned out great. Not only is it a decent overhaul, it was Gramp's pistol. Well done.
