A co-worker recently sold an excellent condition 1976 3" 36-1 to a large local gun store as part of a trade. He did receive an almost fair price. It was offered to me first but I passed as I just didn't have a passion for it. When offered to me he said he had the box but never could produce it.

He finally found the box. Complete with all papers and tools still sealed in the bag. He asked me what it was worth and I politely reminded him that it's true value was "missed" when the gun left without it. I told him I'd ask on this forum. I could certainly use the SAT but am hard pressed to tell him what a top price might be on the whole package....without the gun.

What do you think he could get for it?

Thanks,
Eric

How to tell about tools anytime???

My Model 36 No Dash shipped in January 1967 per Dr. Roy. I bought it from an estate sale and as usual, the original owner was present (not he man, rather his widow). The auctioneer knew nothing about the particulars, other than the widow said she had not ever seen him shooting the gun, and it had been bought for her protection and she knew she never shot it.

So...I considered it a nice complete ANIB package, bid accordingly and took it home.

Yes....I have collected, accumulated, many "packages" and some (most) have tools, used or still in bag, cellophane, rice paper wrapping, etc. but NOT this 36 ND at this sale. Looking around the auction site (tables of dishes, tools, household stuff, knickknacks, etc.) showed nothing like S&W cleaning tools or mops, brushes, SAT, etc.

I figured at the time maybe stolen before auctioneer brought up the lot #, but as usual, firearms are not on open display, so don't really know.

Here's the questions for experts (I am NOT a expert...just a accumulator):

How do we know FOR SURE, exactly what tools would have shipped with exactly what particular model, given the period of time that Model would have been made and shipped?

Like said above, why a SAT with a fixed sight gun, why a mop, but no brush, or vice versa? Was whatever got put in any box with a gun up to the "packer", a QC person, do we really know?

I agree that the OP's friends box, docs, and tools would be about $50 on E-Bay, I see "tool" packages, wrapped and unwrapped, loose single items all over Flea-Bay, but if I can't tell what MAY have, or SHOULD have shipped with my 36 ND, why spend the money on simply "fake" enhancing of a package? On the other hand if "EVERY Smith & Wesson wheel gun shipping in January 1967 did ship with certain tools" then I need a set of something to complement my package.

Like asked.....Do we really know?
