Myself and two others shared the same name. Those other two are my Grandfather and Father. Both have passed away, so I should be good to go.
Here in Fla., the dealer charges a $5.00 call in fee with a state mandated three day "cooling off" period. If you have a ccw then you can take it right then and there. Same if you are trading in a handgun on another one.I have a unique first and last name so I never give my SSN. I only had a delay once because the system was down.
In NM, since the 7 day "cooling off" period was passed, one could do the cash and carry if you had a CC permit. The LGS that does my transfers was charging $15 for cash and carry, but if you had to wait the 7 days, he charged an extra $10 for "storage". I refuse to get a permit to exercise a right, so I have to pay full price.
When I was active, we ran a routine traffic stop, the kid came back as a "Code 6 Charlie", my agency's code for a dangerous wanted felon, which automatically routed the closest officers to you as back-up. We hooked the kid up, and transported him. Turned out he had tattoo on his left shoulder (like the wanted subject did), matched exactly the physical description and his birthday was three days before the wanted subjects. Poor guy, by the time things were figured out, his car had been impounded and he was pretty hostile.I've been bit by the Sig 365 bug recently. First a 365-380, and the other day I decided to get one in 9mm. Filled out the paperwork and looked around to see if there was anything else I couldn't live without. After about 20 minutes one of the young fellows who works there came up with a really confused look and said..."You got denied?" He was more confused than I was I think. I've got a pretty common name, so this kind of thing happens. Although not this specific one. Then he gave me a phone number to call at the state police and talk to them about it.
Called the state police (Virginia State Police run the background check) and talked to a supervisior. He said there were three assualt charges showing on my record. Well, they ain't mine I told him. He said he'd check. Hold on a few minutes.
About ten minutes later I see the gun shop guy coming with the gun and paperwork. He said "We got an "approved" (or whatever the word actually is) and you're ready. He did some mumbo jumbo on the paperwork and I paid, and headed out the door. My phone rang. It was the fellow from the state police, apologizing for the mix-up. No explanation of what happened, but then I didn't really press it. I had the same thing happen some years ago when DMV credited me with a string of tickets in North Carolina and got my car insurance canceled. Got that situation straight too, with no real problems. When you got a name as common as "Bob Jones" you get used to it.
Yes, yes...it shouln't have happened, but it did, people make mistakes, and it got corrected quickly. No harm, no foul.
Oh the Sig? One of the NRA editions. I'd never heard of it until I got this one.

Now to get it to the range and shoot it this morning.
Me too. Every time I buy a handgun. Not for long gun's.I get delayed every time and have to wait for the timeout to get my guns. No idea why but it is every time.
My SSA card says not to use for anything except by SSA business. Never give it for 4473s.The SS# is Not Required on the 4473, as mentioned, and it is also not required on the Virginia SP-65. The Virginia instructions say that it is "solicited" from the buyer but not required, and the instructions further reference "if" it is provided, not when.
On the 4473 form your SSN is voluntary.Do they even look at the SSN?
I guess healthcare must work differently where you live. Every medical place here wants your SSN to the point you can go elsewhere if not prepared to supply it.My SSA card says not to use for anything except by SSA business. Never give it for 4473s.
Not in texasPutting your ss# on form isn't an option. It's required
They do. I have to enter mine or I get denied. I'm the 8th person in my state with the same first and last name. Two are felons, so no SS, I get denied/delayed.Do they even look at the SSN?
Not when they can unlawfully restrict our rights.Do they even look at the SSN?
