Is anyone buying/using full size full weight semi-auto handguns

I am likely buying myself a birthday present in November, a RIA 52009. 5" full sized all steel double stack 10mm 1911A2. No idea how many pounds with a loaded mag. More than my 5906, that's for sure.

I carry only metal framed hammer fired guns. And this one still gets carried on my part time job.

With a gunbelt and quality holster, the weight of the gun is not an issue, for me. Regards 18DAI

I was just looking the other day to see who even still makes and sells and all metal or better all steel full size semi-auto .. forget what I found exactly, but it was rather limited.

You mean like this? It's not full weight, though. It has an alloy frame. I've never had a 17 shooter before. Man. It's awesome.:D
I can see some definite uses for this gun. Like when I'm out camping, alone. Or when I drive down into the city. It would be a good car gun. Cross-draw Mexican carry would work for short periods of time.

I'm not inherently opposed to plastic . If you want 10mm on purpose, Glock is the best platform for it .

That said , I both like metal guns , and carry full sized - ish . Good holster, good belt, dress around the gun . Civillian P225 , because it has best DA of any bottomfeeder I own . P90 has alloy frame, but is similar size and weight of a Combat Commander . And in turn , recently been having a hankering to finally reconfigure ( drop in & reverseably ) my actual Combat Commander , and put it into rotation . ( It's been in limbo because it is VG condition 1970's gun in Coltgaurd , but the stock grip safety lets the hammer bite my hand , and I am very much a Long/ Flat kind of guy, and the oem configuration is Short/ Arched .)

********

Different holster styles have their places , and both styles of belt slide have their advantages and disadvantages . Within that context , an M92 would be as equally suitable or unsuitable as any other full size pistol .

A couple of 1911s, three Walthers 2 (PPK, 1 PPK/s) and a H&K P7. But I don't carry them routinely, I'm a fan of plastic autos.

I have a bunch of steel 1911s but not a fan of toting them, same for my 1006. Also several full size plastic guns but dont carry those much either.

I've been a "revolver guy" ever since I started carrying. I carry a 640 Pro Series. Last Sunday I shot my friends 9mm Tarus millinium. Even though we had trouble with it, I had a ball shooting 9mm! After doing some research, this morning I bought a CZ 75B stainless. I haven't shot it yet but it could replace the 640 sometimes.

I've been carrying my M&P 9 for over 10 years with no problems. It also serves as my nightstand gun. Before that my 5906 was my carry gun. You just have to learn how to dress around the gun when you carry. I rarely have to carry more than 4 or 5 hours at the time so the weight isn't a factor.

If you liked the Taurus, you will love the CZ!
