S&W revolver collecting question...

UPDATE: Got the M-57 in 6" months ago. Since then I pick up another M-58, M-65 3", M-686 3", M-19 4" and the last one was a Pre Model 27 3.5!

Thanks for all the help guys!
The group of folks are the best enablers ever!
We pride ourselves on that fact. You've done great in two years, keep up the good work. :D

Here are some of my favorites, left to right:
Model 642 .38 Spl.
Model 67 (or 15) Combat Masterpiece .38 Spl.
Model 10 heavy 4" barrel .38 Spl. (Little brother with 2" barrel snuck in to photo)
Model 19 Combat Magnum .357
Model 29 .44 Magnum (I forgot the Model 27, on the left, was in the picture.)

That Model 19 has a nice front sight! The Models 14, 17, and 64 were going to be my suggestions for back then. Don't know your living situation and don't want to know, but I suggest a nice pellet rifle if things will work out for it. I always found it more safe teaching muzzle control with a long gun. It just seems to be more obvious.

Nice collection. Now to learn buying control. Good luck with that.

It's a McGivern Gold Bead Patridge sight.

What I have and use:

5 Screw K22 for .22LR
Highway Patrolman 6" for both .38 Special and .357 Mag.
M1955 in .45 cal. (Don't own any .41 Cal handguns)

Holy ****, you caught the disease quick, well done! Looking at your post about your budget, what did you have to give for your 57? You don't see many of them for under $650. If you're open to a little advice on buying guns over the internet, check out guns on Holidays. Most people are with family and there are some deals to be had. Great thread!

I paid $700, it has a couple of blemishes. But, I buy shooters so the imperfections mean nothing to me. Thank you for the tip!

Did you win the lottery or something? So many guns in so little time......lol.

I sold a really nice modern motorcycle and bought some vintage steel. Also, my Dad was a combat shooting instructor in the 70's and 80's. He just turned 80 years old and we have a lot of fun buying guns togeather. Gotta make everyday count...

You still need a Model 36 snubbie and a Model 29 3" :)

Maybe a 1076!

Great minds think alike...lol.

I've been looking at flat latches for awhile now...

My Dad took me to see Dirty Harry when it came out in the movie theater. So, it will have to be 6.5".

I also need a Pre Model 27 with a 5" barrel.

I might have to sell another motorcycle...lol.

Oh yea, I forgot.

I picked up a M-19-3 w/4" barrel a couple of days ago.

I gotta take more pictures.

3rd Gen Semi Autos?

The folks on this forum will not help you with your S&W affliction. I didn't get the S&W infection here but they facilitated a full on S&W incapacitation. I've got more than I need but not as many as I want.

That said, have you considered S&W 3rd Gen semi autos? My focus on S&W semi autos began when friend wanted to swap his 3913 and for an ugly 102 year old Colt 1903 hammerless that I had. I thought the 3913 might make a good CCW so why not give it a try...afterall, they're not making them anymore. After shooting the 3913, I was hooked. S&W semis have great triggers, shortest reset of any semi autos out there and I haven't shot any Performance Center semis...yet. Since then, I've acquired 1006, 4516, 4553TSW, CS9, 39, 59 (in nickel), 908, and 6906.

With a majority of gunbuyers wanting polymer, striker fired semi autos, a lot of nice shooters are out there starting as low as $200 bucks. Law enforcement turn-ins keep the prices down. I'm still on the prowl for S&W revolvers as well as any 1/2/3 Gen S&W semi. I know you've said you're looking for shooters, beauty impaired stainless guns clean up easier than blued guns.

I purchased a few revolvers for my new grandson when he was born. He has a k22, plus a few h&r 22 cal revolvers to shoot. I also got into the late 1800's 22 cal single shot rifles, plus the early 1900 22 cal pump rifles.

You can find some 22 cal military training rifles in your LGS too.

I have a trio of 9mm CZ's that I take to the range to get my auto fix. But, I have to admit my knowledge regarding S&W semi autos is zero. I have a M-41 and that's as far as I gotten. However, I do have a weakness for SS firearms...

S&W Gen 3 semiautos...Try one...Just one...

However, I do have a weakness for SS firearms...

I know this is a S&W revolver "affliction" thread but I double dare you to just go handle a S&W 3rd Gen semiauto, work the action and check out the single action trigger and quick reset. The real fun comes when you actually shoot them.

Go big or go home. I too have big hands (XXL gloves) so I like shooting the bigger bores, 45 and 10mm. However, I like to carry 9mm single stack (908, 3913, CS9). Bigger bores generally have bigger price tags. Gotta warn you, you just can't have one!
