Ok, so let me say that I have tried on multiple occasions to like Chrysler/Dodge products. But they make it REALLY difficult.

My wife had a 2008 Dodge Nitro. Parts LITERALLY fell off it. Seriously. It was a shame. Cool design with lots of really cool touches that came in really handy with two little girls to raise. Extra power ports, handy seating, DVD player. It was great. Until parts started coming off. Tail lights, trim, grille trim. It was awful. Finally traded it off.

Next she had a 2012 Chrysler 200 S. FAST. Problem was all the wheels were bent/warped and the dealer wouldn't do anything about it. Said it happened after she bought it. Could maybe get 12,000 miles out of a set of tires. Then the heater went bad on the passenger side. Turns out it is a problem Chrysler knows about but will not recall. Average price to repair: $2800. Nope. Before I could even react, she calls the lender and tells them come and get it. They did. Her credit took (and is taking) a beating.

I had a 2017 Dodge Pursuit AWD patrol car. Multiple software updates, propeller shafts replaced, notorious for stalling, strong smell of gas when idling. A/C went out. Hard to start, OMG it was hard to start. If it ran, then you turned it off and tried to restart it, you could not. It would NOT start.

I have a 2018 Dodge Pursuit AWD patrol car. The motor blew (as it blew apart into pieces) responding to a man with a gun call. That was cute. It continues to burn out the driver's side tail light/brake light/turn signal assembly, has 3 bent wheels, a new motor, new starter, new A/C condenser. Has had 2 software updates. Now I'm sitting at the dealership because it needs a new water pump. It doesn't have 50,000 miles. The multi media center in the dash works when it wants to. Sometimes the windows roll down, sometimes they don't.

Now I also had a 2014 Dodge Pursuit RWD patrol car. It was awesome. Ran great, fast, no problems with anything. Great car. Our squad also has a 2013 Dodge Pursuit RWD patrol car as a spare. Great car. WAY over 100,000 and cranks and runs great. Interior is worn out, but you expect that in a hard use car like a patrol vehicle.

What happened to Dodge? I actually love the Charger. When it works it is by far the best patrol vehicle I have ever had. They have all kinds of cool features that are really helpful for a patrol cop. One touch 4 door locking, ambush prevention, one touch window up. It handles and accelerates like a demon. Not a brag, but I have yet to have anything out run me in that car.

Why is it so hard to get it to run right?

Its cheaper to get it wrong.:D
 
I WILL NOT....

...have another Chrysler product. But my two Dodge Caravans hav been very good to me. I think that their Truck division is a different animal.

I'm not hankering for a Ford either. Got screwed big time on one of their cars.
 
I haven't owned a Chrysler Corp. product in years and vowed after getting rid of my last one to never buy one again. Bottom line: Horrid quality control!

I have a company car, a Dodge Journey. It was a transfer from an exiting employee otherwise, I would get to pick.

I hate this thing. I drive a lot of like. It needed new wheel bearing with less than 40k miles. The Bluetooth and stereo is possessed. Takes an hour to update. It will decide which phone it wants to connect to. And sometimes it sometimes want to connect to anything. All the doors creak. Currently? There is a loud noise coking from the front shocks when I go up a driveway.

Another 14000 miles to go, before I turn it back in. That's less than 6 months. I would never buy one.

I had two Plymouth's, a '64 Savoy, typewriter transmission engage, no power anything, 225cu in slant six engine, no AC and radio delete from the factory. Also had a 340 Duster 1970, 3 speed manual on the floor, probably had 300 or more horsepower, it was quick
Haven't had a Mopar now for close to fifty years
 
Every Plymouth patrol car I was ever assigned was an electrical nightmare. For several model years, there was an ignition solenoid mounted to the left front wheel well that you had to periodically whack (technical term) with a baton to get the cars to start. Faulty voltage regulators were common, which played hell with our radios and pursuit lights. At any given time, we had 1 or 3 cars down with the transmissions out and it wasn't uncommon to have to wait 60-90 days for replacements.
 
Had two Plymouths and one Chrysler (1993). Many problems with the Chrysler, two transmisson replacements, AC failure in 100 degree weather, windshield cracked the first day I had it. The warranty wascoming to an end when I traded it for a Caddy. Northstar engine quit at 105K.

Now on my third Honda and very happy, Have had two Mazdas and never an issue.
 
The Nitro and the 200S are probably 2 of the worst cars Chrysler made.

The Chargers are not to bad but not great. I like the "styles" of the Charger and Challenger.

We also had parts fall off. A Caravan and a Dakota Pickup. The Caravan was the worst nightmare of a vehicle other than a Chevy Van long ago. Spent more time at the dealer than in our garage. I liked the Dakota Quad Cab had the performance package and would pass everything but a gas station. The the gremlins made a home and I ditched it.:eek:
 
I've had good luck with the rear wheel drive charger patrol vehicles. Even when others had serious brake issues my car was okay. No experience with the new AWD models.
 
I owned a '96 Chrysler Sebring convertible for 28 months. Had it in the shop 23 times. Th AC man said that Chysler's were his favorite car because it is a question of when not if the AC will go out.

My last Dodge was a 1988 Diplomat with the 5.2L V8, tricked out with all the options. It was a beautiful car which was comfortable and drove well, but I had problems galore with it right from the beginning. I was actually happy when it caught fire at a busy intersection back around 1992 and burned up almost completely, at least everything ahead of the rear seat. I assume it was caused by a fuel system leak, but I never tried to find the exact cause. I collected more in insurance than it was worth. It was my first and last Dodge. It's a different company now, so maybe today's Dodges are better. But I will never buy another (Fiat) Chrysler product.

During the brief time I lived in the US in the '60s, my dad bought a brand new Plymouth Valiant. He had it for just under two years, and spent much of that time fighting the rust that repeatedly emerged from a weld on the trunk lid. I don't recall any mechanical disasters with it.

When we were returning to the UK we took a road trip to Florida to catch a ship. The rental company gave a dad two Dodge Monacos. Why two? The first one did an Exxon Valdez by dumping its tranny fluid all over the driveway before we got a chance to start packing it.
 
We put 110K miles on a 1999 Chrysler mini van and never had a problem with it. It was a very versatile vehicle. Carry people or take out the back two rows of seats and you got yourself a camper. Spent many a night on the beach in it.

My only negative comment on it would be that it was slightly under powered. Other than that it was a great car.
 
I know of 3 one ton Dodge/Ram pickup trucks with the Cummins engines
that had a front wheel just fall off. Two of the owners I know and the
other one was in the bar ditch about 5 miles from my place. I stopped
to see if the driver was ok, angry did not fully describe him.
