I have posted this before, but it's been a while and wanted to give out a new helping of eye candy. Yes, it's a 3" CS . It's the jewel of my small revolver collection. The grips are obviously new. The shop where I purchased this had put a set of hogues on it and didn't know anything about the original grips.

The original grips can be found....usually in a junk box at the gun show. I have found several sets for under 10 bucks.

The CS-1 series are really neat shooters. Have you had it to the range yet?

Very nice!

A 3" CS 686 is on my 'list', but I don't know if I'll be able to make myself pay the current asking prices. I remember getting one or two of these through the gun shop where I worked through college and liking them a lot. Just about perfect.

Waiting on CA DOJ to hurry up and finish processing mine so I can pick it up. 686 plus with the 3" barrel. The 10 day CA waiting period is being stretched out longer than the 10 days they are supposed to get their job done in. But even though they are not I do not suppose any one will be disciplined; Sorry state of affairs.

What are those 686 3" running pricewise? Also what year is that one pictured?

Since the L Frames use standard K Frame grips you should easily be able to score a set in excellent condition.

These are the issued grips on the "CS-1". Some were w/o emblems. They were slotted on bottom to allow serial # inspection. They are currently made but recent examples I have seen may or may not fit correctly.

Still l@@king for a 3",,,,,,,,

I believe those are the old style Compac. The new style Compac has a finger cut out for the pinkie.

The Compac Professional has an open backstrap.

That is entirely possible. I haven't bought a new set from them except for a N-round pair to fit a tricked out 44 mag. All of mine came used from the gun shows for cheap :D

I recall hearing and reading about them when introduced but had never seen one anywhere. All of a sudden, I found and acquired not one but two 3" CS-1's within just a few weeks and found them at local gun shows. Both had boxes. I ended up selling one of them to a forum member in order to offset the cost of keeping the other one. Mine were overruns I am pretty sure because neither one had the original grips.

I got the 3" T.A.L.O. version of the 686+ and replaced the grips with Pachmayr Diamond Pro.

I will give you those grips if you can figure out how to get them shipped at no cost to me!...and I can find them...lol! I will never use them.

Yeah, CS-1 but, I can't recall exact birthdate. I need to look it up again.
