Here is something I don't remember seeing before. An official US Navy statement, accompanied by pictures, as they are putting a usually secretive attack submarine, the USS Georgia, in a belligerents (Iran's) face, as she transits the Strait of Hormuz.

It comes as the one year anniversary approaches of an American drone strike that killed one of their generals, which resulted in an Iranian missile strike on US troops in the region at the time.

Looks like a message not to trigger "Shock and Awe, Chapter 2"

Edit: Had to laugh. The Navy posted a short clip on Youtube of the sub going through the Strait, into potentially hostile waters of Iran. Talk about getting in your face.

Next time the bad guys decide to launch a wave of rockets at the "Green Zone", I wonder how long it would take for that sub to identify the launch location, and send a couple Cruise Missiles their way?

Larry

I thought Air Defense Artillery battalions had that capability.

What is the thing on top?

Can't say for sure, neither a Navy veteran nor a submarine afficionado, but it looks like a Dry Dock Shelter (DDS). Navy SEALs use them for storing and launching their submersibles while submerged. I think they can also just flood them and swim out with their SCUBA gear.

I could be wrong, though.

Love the missile picture.... Oh yeah....like you have to remind me NOT to step on a nuclear warhead.
Impressive array, that's for sure. As of last year, "only" 1000 pound conventional warheads are deployed on those cruise missiles.

A friend is a contractor at an embassy , the one attacked last year , and they are expecting some action again this year . He was there 4 days last time they were attacked . He says the natives are already ramping up . They had an IED at the airport lately , the first in a long time .

I wish your friend luck. January 3rd is the date of last year's drone strike on Soleimani. I have a feeling intel must look bad for them to advertise a sub like this.

I, too, am proud of our Navy. Enjoy this moment. Its looking like we might be sending Iran money again instead of standing up to them.....

Unfortunately, there are regimes and rulers who understand nothing other than overwhelming force coupled with the willingness to use that force.

Again unfortunately, the willingness to use force in pursuit of national objectives is not as common as the willingness to bow, scrape, or surrender.

A special blessing is asked for those who go in harm's way on our national behalf.

The USS Georgia is a converted Trident Ballistic Missile submarine. Converted into what, you might ask? Into a Guided Missile Submarine. Translation - it is a virtually invisible underwater platform that carries a holy load of cruise missiles!

Oh, and Special Ops troops as well. The structure behind the conning tower is a lock-out deployment chamber for special operators and their equipment.

This is MUCH more than a simple "Don't Mess With Us" statement; this statement is "Mess with us and you will get hit, HARD - and never see it coming!"
