Laugo Arms Alien Pistol...

What planet does Laugo Arms inhabit? I see the gun is the alien model. So is it for shooting aliens...do we qualify?

Mine arrived and it does shoot great. That low bore axis about which they brag does make a difference, certainly for fast second shots. It's a double-tapping special.

This initial run of five hundred includes two top rails, one with adjustable open sights and one with a red dot. It shipped with 3 magazines and they "permitted" buyers to add two more. The case is very nice and it also has a very sturdy competition style holster.

Worth the money? That question is so subjective as to be unanswerable, but if one can, and wants, to allocate gun buying funds into one pile rather than across several guns, then it is up to them. I did notice that somebody is flipping one on GB already and it has bid up over $7800 at last check.

Mine is no longer unfired and it isn't going anywhere except to my heirs. The OP photos are so much better than any I could do and mine differs only in the number engraved representing its place in the initial importation run of 500.

They are made in the Czech Republic and one can easily see its CZ heritage as the designer was also responsible for the CZ Scorpion.

I have one on order and they keep saying they will contact us but so far, nothing. They do not answer the phone and I have sent emails.

Anyone know what is taking so long?

Looks like a very well made pistol and very innovative in it's design. We will need a range report.

Found a bunch of videos of it on Youtube. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoIirPtIdxo[/ame]

Different..but not $5k worth of cool to me.

$5000 is a bargain for what you get and the market is showing that.

Whether it’s worth it to everyone is a matter of opinion of course, but the value is most definitely there. Guns like this aren’t for everyone and if they were, they would be more available. It’s a low production gun from a boutique manufacturer.

Lancer is terrible, that’s why.

I have a contact if you want. PM me

The secret sauce of the pistol is more than the ultra-low bore access.

The barrel is fixed which should help accuracy potential.

The surface the RDS is mounted on is also fixed which should improve RDS reliability. As RDS are getting more and more popular, this is no small thing.

I think these early guns are essentially hard built which means expensive and hard to get.

If someone can figure out how to mass produce the design while maintaining good quality, the design has the potential to influence handgun design moving forward.

The design's main inspiration (if not duplication) is the gas piston system. If you have ever handled a H&K P7 and seen the gas piston under the barrel the Alien's piston will look VERY familiar. The Alien's piston lays on top of the fixed barrel and the relatively small spring is alongside the piston. The P7, of course, has the large recoil spring over the fixed barrel.

I fired about 100 rounds of 115 grain range ammo through mine offhand at 15 yards. This initial trip was more of a function check and opportunity for me to become more familiar with the weapon rather than a "test" of t he gun. My results on a sunny, cool day in central Texas were very encouraging, as the accuracy was immediately apparent. The adjustable-for-windage open sights were dead on with the range ammo, as it was with the red dot after changing the top rail. I have no doubt that a better class shooter than I would have no problem producing impressive groups.

As I mentioned, the mitigation of muzzle rise is the primary benefit of the low bore axis design. It is really true that you can pretty much keep the sight picture between shots with both sighting systems. My 70 year old eyes did a tiny bit better with the Red Dot, but using my shooting glasses with the bi-focal in the top part of the lens gave encouraging results with the open sights.

Cleaning was a breeze once the take down process is learned. As with the P7 the main area needing attention is the gas piston's carbon build-up. The kit included a small bottle of Bore Tech carbon remover which worked great on the crud left by the cheap dirty range ammo I was using. A little time with the solvent and a nylon bristle brush cleaned it right up. The pistol also come with a special flat L-shaped cleaning tool that doubles as a carbon scraper for the inside of the piston pocket that also allows use of cleaning patches up into that small hole. Me telling it was more complicated than doing it.

We are having a rainy spell now in north central Texas so it will be probably next week before I can shoot again. The issue of "value" is subjective, and I am the polar opposite of a high speed, low drag operator. But the quality, ingenious design, and accuracy of this pistol rivals some of the finest pistols I have had the privilege to shoot. I own Sig P210's, H&K P7's, among others and the Alien, despite its rather lame name is a solid contender for quality and inherent accuracy.

Thanks for the good review. I am still waiting to get mine.

How is the trigger on it? With the hammer hinging down from above and the sear being released by a "push rod", I was a little concerned.

Also the trigger is only adjustable with a factory spring change, at least for now.
