Welcome to the forum from South Carolina.
With the winter we've been having, you could make some here jealous with your heated sidewalks and streets.

Trust me sir.. I so wish we had heated sidewalks and streets but all that is a myth.
Atm it's around 42°f but should be at 20° and 3ft of snow.

Perhaps down at the central Reykjavík and only there other areas use salt, sand or nothing at all.
Few years ago the government requested that the road from Keflavík to Reykjavík were lit up and that's about it.
Regarding shot water only 2 areas are so called "cold areas" where people use boilers to heat up baths and showers but electricity for living areas

Welcome from Noosa, Queensland Australia, where it's currently 82.4F/28C. How strict are the firearm licensing regs in Iceland?

Welcome from sunny Southwest Florida. My brother used to be attached to the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron based out of Keflavik up there back in the '80s as an F-15 pilot.

We are fairly strict here. ALL guns are registered in a database at the police station, and this is how it goes.
We need to sit at a course for about 3 days even though we have shot from early age.
After that has been done ALL newbies are allowed to have 3 guns. An air rifle, .22 and 12 gauge s/s, o/u, single shooter or pump. This is what is called A license.
At year 2 you can apply for B license and from there you can own all from .22 mag and up (regardless of caliber), semi auto shotguns.
3rd year is the D license also called "collectors license" at that point you can own .22 semi, few handguns with restrictions, and military weapons AS LONG they are single shooting, semi OR known history about if that type has been here before or not.

Handguns are limited to the public that is the law inforcement are the only one that can have 9mm and up unless the item (45 acp, 45 DE, 38, 357 and etc) were purchased before the law changed to what they are now. Therefore the public can only own .22.

Silencers are sold here and again they need to be registered to the owner.

Gun safes are mandatory if the plan is to own more than 3 guns.. no it's no but's

I hope this answer something

Welcome aboard from coastal North Carolina. My wife, daughter, and I visited Iceland in October 2001 and had a wonderful adventure.

Awesome time I guess right?

Little has changed other than the houses and yes the weather.
As of today no snow at South West to the South East and temp at 38-44. However West, North and East Side are more and less covered in snow up to 4ft deep
