I stumbled on to a receipt where in 2018 I bought a case of a 1000 Blazer Brass 124Gr. 9mm for a $179 bucks plus shipping.

Last time I bought Gold Dot or HST pre-pandemic it was around $35/50. I recently saw a retailer online selling Gold Dot for $100/50.

The last case of wolf 45acp was $62.50/500rds. I think the 5 k rounds cases of 22 lr was $199.

They used to advertise in the old Gun List.

BITD my brother and I would order 2 - 1000rd cases of 9mm once fired reloads 124gr RN lead for something like 90 bucks per case delivered, and also .45 ACP for not much more. Forgive me if the prices are wrong, it was 20+ years ago, but it was in that neighborhood.

We were big into reloading at the time, .44 Mag, .45 Colt, .357 Mag, and .38 Spl.

But we didn't reload 9mm because we found it a PITA and it was so cheap to buy it from Maine Cartridge. And he had no .45 ACP's so I would buy it for my 1911's.

Good ammo too. I finally opened the last case of 9mm this past weekend.

I'll never see those prices again in this lifetime.

I've shot two 300-round 9mm defensive classes this year and didn't blink an eye.
If I sold my ammo, primers and powder, I could buy a small island.
Hopefully it will get better!
Most of my primers have stickers of $15 or less per 1000. Same for pounds of powder.
I just wish I'd been a 'super hoarder' and not just a 'hoarder' when it was cheap. :-(

9mm was the first cartridge I loaded. Way back in 1972 with a Lee loader hammer set. The first I ever cast bullets for too. This was to feed my Browning P35. Been loading and shooting cast bullets in 9mm ever since.

I still have primers, mainly large and small rifle, that I paid under $6.00 per thousand for back in the late 70s. Might still have some magnum pistol primers from those days.

I remember stopping at Academy in Nashville on my way to Talladega each
Spring and buying Blazer aluminum 9mm for $3.86 per box. One year, I was the only guy at the track with a Sig, 3 magazines and 8200 rds of ammo.

Yeah, well for another trip down memory lane I can remember when surplus 30-06 ammo went for penny a round. Times change and they don't return. The new norm (and new laws) will make it all " expensive" if available at all..........

I gave my grandson all of my reloading stuff. In the bunch there are some Sierra .243 bullets in the green boxes. 60gr. HP a few cents less than $3.00 with the 70gr. and 100gr. not much higher.
Hornady 38/357 XP's less than $8.00(could have been $6 something) a box and HBWC were cheap in 500 per box. I don't remember the primer and powder prices but they were cheap.

I just checked and I have a box of .30 cal, M1, 110 gr. marked $2.95. I think they were bought when the Mississippi was a creek. Larry

In my opinion, the "ammo shortage" is being produced. By who? I don't know by who. But it's all political. It's "back door gun control." You can't shoot a gun without ammo.
