1970 Muscle Cars

I owned a 1970 AMC Rebel "The Machine" Muscle Car. Engine output to 400 horses and purportedly dropped quarter mile times into the 12 second range. It had a hood mounted tach and a fully functional ram air intake. The Machine was only produced for a single year before the name, and the concept, were retired. After selling just over 2,600 units, The Machine would be retired. It was a great car and actually got good mileage on the open road (almost 18 miles per gallon) but sucked gas around town, lol. I loved the blacked out hood as I lived out in New Mexico at the time and it really cut down on the evening glair and made reading the hood mounted tach easy.

Mine looked like the gold one below but with a white vinyl top and a deep metal flake gold quite beautiful in the sunlight all leather black interior. Full instrument package and assume stereo system. As the saying goes it could pass anything on the road but a gas pump. LOL :)

What was your 1970 Muscle Car?

'71 Buick GSX Stage 1 Still own it, undergoing restoration. Boosted the @425 horses to @525 Clydsdales. Hood tach, front and rear spoilers, Cortez Gold, with white vinyl top and pearl white interior. Neither were supposed to have been available, but their are verified exceptions.

Only 124 were made in '71, and only about 2 dozen to less than 30 are still known to exist. Of those, maybe 15 are the Stage 1 engine.

My buddy used to own the Reynold's Buick Stage 2 factory drag car. The white one. The other factory Stage 2 drag car was red.

don't know whos this is, so I don't know if it is a clone or real. Mine was built with a white top and interior.

Closest I ever got was a 68 Mercury Cougar with a 351 Windsor in it. I got it in 79 from the proverbial little old lady who just drove around town. I bought it for 350 and drove it for 2 years then sold it for the same money. Wish I had that car today - it was pretty quick.

Again Not a "Muscle Car"
But it was in the last year or so when GM's Engines were different for each Division

My Very First car was a 73 Olds Omega Hatchback with the 350 Rocket V-8
It wasn't Lightning Fast but the Engine was Stout and I very rarely drove it slow

This isn't MY car but it's Almost Exactly like it. I think the Factory Color is the Best Ever

1970 Buick Riviera 455 engine, baby blue outside with a white vinyl top and white seats. Bought it off my uncle for $500 and sold it for $500. Man I wish I had it now.

My brother had a metallic root beer brown '72 boat tail Riv with the 455. It had a Stage 1 engine, which we found out after he sold it.

I got my DL in 1970. I was the gofer at the local Ford dealer and wanted a 1970 Ford Torino Cobra so bad I could taste it but it never happened. Never had any muscle car, although I did have a couple of fast patrol cars over the years. Oh, well...
