I couldn't believe my eyes. They had six 50 round boxes of CCIs at ONLY 14 cents a round. What was even more astonishing was that an old guy (old like me) was actually buying them. I commented that last year they were 5 cents and he agreed, but bought them anyway.

If he wanted or needed them then sure he would buy them. It is not like $7.00 a box or $35. for all of them is much money to most these days.

Were they stingers? If so, I would have bought them. Walmart has not changed the price of 22LR in last couple years. If it was CCI Standard Velocity it would have cost $3.XX .

I just picked up 3 boxes of stingers for $7/50 at Chinamart so that’s my guess.

It’s the normal price for them.

Saw some at the gun show over the weekend, they were $30.00 a box and some north of that. Fed 350 rnd boxes were $69.00 a box-- $13.25 some time back. :(

Went to WM to pick up a few groceries, walked past the ammo case and there was a sleeve of 5 boxes/100 CCI Mini Mags HP. Limit of 3 boxes, so I bought 3 and left the remaining 2. Also in the case were some Winchester 20 & 12 gauge slugs. In the past month there has been ammo trickling in to 2 WM's in my area. I pick up what I can use.

A Rural King in another town actually had ammo in stock, Ingman 9mm 124 Gr FMJ @ $20.99/box 50. They had 223/5.56, 357 Mag and a few more calibers plus shotshells. Boxes and bulk packs. Funny thing was, nobody was there buying ANY ammo! Guess maybe folks have reached a saturation point, or just don't have any more money. I myself passed on it all; still waiting for things to get closer to "normal".

CCI and Federal have been selling direct off their website lately. The stock varies and the price is regular retail with free shipping if you buy a certain amount. There is a limit per order but I purchased nearly 4000 rounds in a couple of orders.

They’re charging retail as you’d expect but even at retail 22’s are still cheap shooting. Also you don’t have to get up and be at Walmart about the time they open and hope they got a box or two in. I spent several months going to Walmart at opening a few times a week just to score 800 rounds. No thanks I’ll pay a few dollars more and sleep later and have it delivered to my door. I figure I burned more gas driving to Walmart than what I’d saved if I’d found my ammo at Walmart.

Federal / CCI had quiet target, standard velocity target, stangers, bulk Federal 800 round boxes and mini mags.

Six 50 round boxes !!!

Do you think my great grand kids will believe me when I tell them in the 1970's and 1980's , how many 500 round boxes used to be stacked on tables ...no buying limit ...what the prices were ( $10 - $12 ) and how every time I went to wally world I would by a big box , just because they were so cheap and never in short supply ?
They gonna think I'm dreaming and telling them tall stories ...that's what I believe !

The GhettoMarts around here don't carry any ammo. Apparently too much was going out the back door. Ripped off by their own "associates."

YUP..... One box of 500 every time you go shopping with the wife. All you had to do was put-up with: "what are you going to do with ANOTHER box of .22's ?". Every time I go to the range these days, I remind my wife exactly what I'm doing with all those $12 boxes of 22's.

DON'T BUY.... it may not drop to $12 a brick, but it's gotta come down plenty ONLY if you: DON'T BUY

I needed my glasses adjusted and the local WM is only a stones throw away. So I stopped and walked back to the ammo dept. There on the shelf were 10 boxes/325 rounds of Federal Auto Match. There was a lady in front of me who got 3 boxes (limit) and I got my 3 boxes. The 12 & 20 gauge slugs were still there from last week. At $5.97 for 5 rounds Winchester Super-X I didn't think that was too bad. Maybe nobody needs slugs right now.

Anyway, I'm liking that I can find some ammo for regular prices locally. And there doesn't seem to be a line waiting for it like before. :-)

THE BIG QUESTION:

What did you pay for each box (325) of Fed Auto Match?

J

well, it's not .22lr, but optics asteroid is supposedly shipping my federal shorty's and federal 9mm 150gr HST ammo. 2 days ago it was shipping 7/20, today it is 7/22. the shorty's are $11/12 a box (the old price). the HST? Don't ask. but at the price, it better be one shot stops.
midway emailed me yesterday to say they had bricks of thunderbolt .22lr for $56 for a little while...

My order from November shows 7/22 shipping. They’re not serious.

$18.73/box 325 = $.058/round. Less than 6 cents/round. :D

I have to admit that the price you paid is not bad in today's world. I have been known to pay about that well before the latest panic set it....
There IS hope....
Thanks,
J.

I was in Buckeye Outdoors in Hebron, Ohio July 8. They had mountains of 22, 22 Mag and even 22 Winchester.

But the price, Browning 400 count bulk pack $99 (25 cents a round) for so so ammo. CCI Stingers at $15.99/50 (32 cents each!) Outrageous!

Stopped into WM this afternoon to pick up a few grocery items. Walked past the ammo cabinet and was able to pick up 3 boxes Winchester 333 22 LR @ $18.73/box ($.056/round). That's almost 2,000 rounds 22 LR in 2 weeks at less than 6 cents/round. Also had some 270 & 30-06 and a few others on the shelf; CCI 22 Magnum also. I'm happy to see a little more ammo showing up on the shelves. At least WM isn't gouging like the LGS are here locally. Last week I even scored a box of Winchester 308. :-)
