Have to admit it’s been a struggle coming to terms with the idea of good snakes. I guess as long as they stay out of the house we can coexist
I wanted those rabbits to grow up so I could eat them.

From my view appears to be Gray rat snake, quite common in Georgia.
Adults have a tendency to be close to solid black but if you look closely
it will have some different shades from gray to black. The lumps you saw more than likely were bird eggs. Have chickens??? A black racer is a shiny black and usually takes off if you get close, they also have a bad attitude most of the time. My two cents worth.

Looks like a gray or black rat snake to me.
Black racers I have seen tend to be more slender than that one.
Good snake. My only problem with them is that they are, according to
Tall Timber’s Research Station, one of the worst nest robbers of quail chicks and eggs.

I do not like snakes, never have and never will. I know there are good ones and not so good ones; But i am not going to kill one just because it scares the **** out of me. If is a dangerous snake and a threat to me or my family I introduce it to creator.
I would name it Roscoe. If it's a girl, then Renee.

Good looking critter. All I ever manage to find are Great Basin Gopher Snakes (AKA Bullsnake) and Red Racers. Very occasionally I see California Kingsnakes.

Black racers are All Black, chicken snake/ rat snake has white underside.
