I think YETI has finally jumped the shark . . .

I wonder if my butt can tell the difference between that and a $20 lawn chair?

The man has a point, especially if you're living in my current retired lazy state and you've built up a lot of cushion.

I thought the OP was describing some stupid Si-Fi 'B' movie I saw last night on YouTube while laying flat on my said cushion in my cushy bed. :)

About 10 yrs ago my wife and I were in Bass Pro Shops . I saw a small YETI cooler that was perfect for my pickup truck for carrying my lunch and a few drinks . It was about $250 bucks and I remarked that it looked nice but it was too expensive . Well , you know how wife's can be . She bought it for me for our anniversary a month later . It turned out to be the biggest waste of money ever . Too small to hold enough ice to be of any use once you put your food in it . But it's a YETI !

Do your research gentleman, they are a fervent anti 2nd Amendment company and don't deserve a single dime from any of us.

They are actively trying to strip us of our Civil Liberties.

That’s a deep rabbit hole, kinda akin to the Commerce Clause. There’s not a thing that you buy that does not somehow contribute to the erosion of rights we deem important. If you like it, buy it . . .

Maybe it's me and I'm getting weaker as I age but those roto-molded hard coolers are doggone heavy BEFORE you load them. Fill up a 48 quart or bigger and you need two men and a boy to move it around.

I like the RTIC brand, likely made in the same Chinese factory as Yeti, and especially like the heavy-duty vinyl soft coolers with the zipper around the top. Very nice and lightweight and they keep things cold as long as practically necessary 95% of the time. RTIC is a bit more than half what a comparable Yeti runs retail. Yeti is based in Austin and as I'm a refugee from that enclave I just can't buy one. RTIC is in Houston.

Before the whole green/anti plastic movement I used to buy the large thick 99cent styrofoam coolers. Kept everything cold all day, leave it in the trunk for next time if it survived and perfect to give to someone with leftovers, beer, frozen stuff. Haven’t seen them in a year or more. Joe

I see them in grocery stores and gas stations .

Those of us who are sailors have high standards for buckets. They can be made from canvas, but those are hard to keep from getting mildew, which doesn't just stay on the bucket. The available plastic buckets are not strong enough for marine use. We rate buckets by how many knots of current they can handle. If they don't come apart when the boat is moving at 5 knots, they are 5 knot buckets. Quite a few decades ago, we found the best buckets are horse buckets, sold at our local farmers co-op. I am not sure what the horses use them for, but they are great for shipboard use. They are made out of a heavy rubbery material, and have a strong bail. They come in different sizes at a reasonable price. Work fine at 5 knots, our top speed in a fresh breeze. They lack only snob appeal. For that, there are the traditional varnished Cedar strip buckets. The Yeti might pass the current test, but are too large for our small ship, and look like something that paint comes in. And, then there's the price thing! That should include a few gallons of paint.

Yeti is dead to me ever since they spit on the 2nd Amendment. Don't know if their coolers are any good, but they aren't getting any of my money.

As it is, I have a large Ozark Trail (Walmart) ice chest that works great and costs about 1/4 the price of a Yeti of the same size.

I have a large Yeti cooler that I got second-hand from a guy that needed some money.

Here' s my take on it. If you leave the lid shut, it will hold ice for a remarkably long time. If I was packing meat out, or something like that, it's perfect and tough. If you are getting drinks out every 20 minutes, it doesn't do any better than my old Igloo. My friend has a Pelican ice chest that is also very good. I use Pelican cases for all my camera equipment and abuse them regularly, so if I was going to buy an expensive one, a Pelican is what I would go for.

5 gallon buckets are fine for sitting and can be free.

To me Yeti reached that point with their 5 gal bucket for $40
YETI LoadOut 5 Gallon Bucket

Never underestimate the gullibility and intelligence of the American public

My free sitting bucket formerly held hydraulic fluid.
It handles my Crisco Can very well.
