I have a Marlin M1894 and a Rossi M92, both in .44 Magnum.
The recoil of both rifles is more than I expected.
Does these rifles have noticable recoil or am I just "Wimppy"?

I had a similar observation to yours! Model 29's and SBH's work fine all day long! Model 92's and 1894 in 44 mag. I would rather carry one of the 45-70's, but again, that's for a different thread!!

Mudslide on a hunting trip in the Sierras back in '68.
Hunter with a Sharps in 45-70 gave me some lessons about proper techniques to get enjoyment without a black and blue shoulder.
By the time the road was cleared I turned a dead tree into sawdust.
Been practicing with a No.1H in 458WM since '81.... has a 16.25" barrel now.
Perhaps a thread on offhand rifle techniques might be helpful.

Our Winchesters, '94/44Mag 16" and '92/45Colt 24" are easy shooting.
We have handguns in those calibers as well.

The new 3.5" M460 Carry got my attention with the first 200gr FTX and the second round had it back to Smith for a new trigger and cylinder stop.

I'm not wimpy, just weak and puny, and grew up getting sand kicked in my face at the beach.
Ad in '50s comic book got me on the right track. :D

Two Rossi 92 357's and several 38 & 357's.
TC Contender 10" 357 max and H&R 357 Max 22".
Contender 30-30 and Win 94.
If I found a decent 40 S&W carbine I would take a hard look but probably pass.

I saw a discussion of .44 Magnum ballistics from a lever gun on another forum some time back. When one gets done with the math, it seems that the potential recoil force is up there between a .308 and a .30-06 IIRC. How you set up the stock is going to make a big difference.

That discussion is why I decided to go with a specific model of Marlin in .357, which I ordered at just the wrong time - about 2 weeks before they shut down and it was a model that had higher demand than production. Been waiting 18 months, and figure I will be for a while a longer.

As a realistic matter, I am far better trained on an AR or my Mossberg 590, both of which are set up for serious with RDS, lights, sling, etc. Given the potential for RV travel in the future, the cosmetic value of a "cowboy" gun rather than an obvious fighting tool when dealing with average hoplophobic idiot is worth considering.

I have several. 32/20, 30 carbine, 44 Magnum, 45 Colt, 38/40, 9 mm, and 45 ACP. Oh, and we can't forget the 22s.

But my favorites would have to be these Rossi 92s and this N Frame in 44/40.

Love the .32-20, or .32 WCF, if you prefer. I have S&W revolvers marked with either designation (also have a few Colts that chamber this round). Serendipity stepped in with a great "companion" long gun several years ago.

I was very fortunate to acquire a Remington Model 25 slide-action rifle chambered in .32 WCF manufactured in May 1923. It's in near mint condition with original bluing and wood finish. It's a take-down holding 10 cartridges and is perfectly capable of using any of the handloads we put through our revolvers.

The combination of any of our .32-20 revolvers and this fine Remington makes a fun "walkin' around the ranch" pairing.

Very cool.... a Remington 12 .22LR Gallery rifle on 32-20 steroids ;)

I could not get comfortable with my 92 in 44 mag until I found a lace up recoil pad. With heavy 300 gr bullets it just flat spanked you.

How about these?
