Best Way to Carry More Rounds for CCW??

I bought a PT 92 in case someday I ever need a whole lot of boolits. So far I've never carried it, but it is a blast at the range.

I kinda like to carry my 6 cartridge re-load in a Bianchi Quick Strip shown
below in a leather pouch to carry on the belt. This one was made by
Pecchenino Leather in Kuna, Idaho. The holster is a Lewis Cross Draw.
The gun is a Model 10 with 2" barrel. The knife is a Puma Prince.
After all, if this set-up was good enough for Sgt. Friday, it should
be good enough for me.

Best way to carry more EDC ammo, is to carry it in the gun. So ditch the revolver, and get something like a G19 or M&P9c.

My G19 carries three times the load that the j frame has. Thugs nowadays tend to travel in packs, and there's always the possibility of an active shooter.

Your little revolver will run dry in seconds, and while you're fumbling with a "speed" loader or "speed" straps, you'll get killed.

Whereas my G19 will be laying down a steady stream of fire, with 17 more in the spare mag.

It's 2021. Let's arm ourselves for the times.

Please provide some direct actual examples of where an armed concealed carry civilian, out and about in public, has met an untimely demise or grievously wounded, due to carry of only a 5 or 6 shot revolver. Fantasy scenarios don't count. Off-duty LE stories don't count. Business owners/employees defending a location against a robbery don't count, but a patron in the store would count.

When I was working, I carried a S&W Model 65-1 or 686-6 with 4 speedloaders and a Model 12-2 in my offside cargo pocket with 2 speed strips in my back pocket. Now, I'm carrying my 65-1 with 2 speedloaders in a jacket pocket and/or 2 speedstrips in my back pocket.

But why would anyone try to forcibly steal a vehicle with a flat tire . . . ?

They wouldn't.

But they might use your misfortune as an opportunity to rob YOU.

And here's an example of an armed citizen running out of ammo using -- yes -- a revolver for home defense.

Yeah, he did burn some ammo with "warning shots," but if he'd had a full size semi he'd have had ammo to spare.

I found it fast with a duck duck go search; there might be others.

Neither example is a citizen out in public conducting their daily business while concealed carrying.

A little speed strip is so easy to carry, why not. I also keep 12 rounds in an Uncle Mike's ammo holder in my truck.

But my daily carry is a Shield Plus with 13 round mag and a spare.

I will try to address the OP's question without straying too far. While I would tend to prefer to carry my P365 or maybe a G26, many conditions dictate that I must carry a revolver on occasion.

I currently live in a state that mandates magazines neutered to 10 rounds, that MUST be unloaded when traveling in-state, violation or either restriction results in a mandatory 7-8 year prison visit and loss of 2A rights. When I venture out on day trips into neighboring states where I can exercise my non-resident permit, I will now carry either my 686+ or 629 3" revolvers, where I can quickly dump the cylinder and become legal, as opposed to finding a safe spot to pull over and both store and unload my primary and backup magazines. Fortunately, possessing a loaded speedloader or speedstrip isn't currently illegal (unless they're loaded with JHPs), because neither item is designed as a part of the firearm. The problem that I see with speedstrips, is the type of material it's made of. I have had Bianchi (which uses a softer, more pliable plastic) and those of a competitor which uses a less pliable material, and I have a bear of a time inserting the cartridge rims into the less pliable speedstrips.

On the occasions where I will carry a revolver, I will carry either an HKS speedloader in a split 6 carrier, or a speedstrip in my watch pocket. When I carry a revolver, I will carry my reloads on my strong side, since I place my revolver in my weak hand for the dump and to stabilize the cylinder during the reload.

Being both disabled and of an age to know better, I won't willing insert myself into a hotspot (unless I am in the process of protecting my children). My greatest fear is finding myself in a flash mob setting of "mostly peaceful protesters", a la Kyle Rittenhouse (except I wouldn't be voluntarily inserting myself).

OK. You guys convinced me. I'm going to stoke both my speed strips with 38 Special ammo, and keep one in a pocket and one in the car. But I'm not going out and buying a Glock. I'm not going to AIWB a semi-auto and a spare mag. It's just too intrusive for my lifestyle/carry style and where I live it ain't that dangerous.
I was carrying a speed strip in a cargo pocket but it kept going through the wash.

My gun is like my pocketknife. It's always there if I need it, but if I don't need it I forget it's there and that's how I want it to be.

Hey all.

I'm gonna carry my 3-inch M65 when I get the grips situations figured out. I've only carried it a few times. What I'd like to know is what the best and most convenient method is to carry more rounds.

I've got a couple speedloaders and they work fine in my m65. I've never tried the various other methods of carrying spare rounds. Speed strips, moon clips, different types of speed loaders….what is best for CCW? What method have you found works best for you?

It seems like moonclips would be easier and faster but that involves having my cylinder machines to accept them and the user reports I have read on them are mixed. Some absolutely love them and others don't.

I'd rather not have to carry a pouch on my belt, but I would if it's the best and easiest way to reload 6 rounds into my m65.

What's your thoughts?

Thanks.

I carry my J36 and model 15...I am right handed so I carry two extra speed loaders in my right coat pocket...No matter what you like for reloading you have to practice with it..ALL S&W revolvers have a hammer block safety, so rounds will not go off...If a round does go off it is because you squeezed the trigger...

The Beckwith Incident

A: The first guy never shot at the victim. There's actually no indication that the suspect even had a gun.

2: You're not a gun dealer with a sub machine gun.

I actually suspect you might be Alex Murdaugh . . .
