Gas, goods shortages and inflation rant!

If I drive 30 miles to the next county, on a almost empty tank................
I can get gas at 30 cents a gallon cheaper.
Is my time and driving worth $6 ?
One's got to know his priorities............

From 2.92 to 3.01 a gallon here in my part of Arkansas. Higher other places.

Just drove back to DFW from Houston on Monday. You can find $2.99 without too much trouble but many places are more.
I have a feeling these shortages are partially, and probably majorly, due to transportation and labor shortages. I discovered today that my local Wally World's back room is stuffed to the gills, while the shelves are barren. They don't have enough people to stock the shelves. Your Sam's Club delayed gasoline may be due to lack of a driver. Gasoline inventories aren't especially low.

Paid 3.19.9 last Saturday in Wi. Illinois at least 3.49.9
Central Arkansas, regular is $3.09 a gallon, a few miles down the road it's .10-.15 cents cheaper. My truck has a 36 gallon tank and I fill up at a 1/4 tank otherwise it chews up a $100.00 bill to top it off.

The Mrs and I just took a short Route 66 trip. Between St Louis and Oklahoma City we paid between 3.07 and 3.30 (87 octane).

$3.28 a gallon at BJ's in Hudson Ma.
Folks can laugh if they want to, but I've been buying a little extra each time I go to the store, and not just ammo.
Looks like my basement except for the treadmill.
PA has the second highest gas taxes in the country. If you're driving and can hold on until you get to Ohio or Maryland the price drops considerably.

Filled up the truck yesterday for the second time in 2021. I have only driven it about 2K since we moved here in 2019.
Last week I paid $3.249 to fill up the Suburban with regular 87 octane.
The same gas yesterday was $3.179, but none of the other stations have dropped their prices.
During the gas glut in 2020 it had dropped to $1.399 here.
Gotta love the fact that nobody making less than $400K will have to pay a cent more this year.
I have noticed hit and miss shortages at several of the stores, but lately Publix (supermarket) has been doing a pretty good job to make sure shelves are full.
On a plus I have been informed that I could make a killing by selling my 2006 Silverado, my house and my 2010 Suburban. The down side is I couldn't afford to replace them.

Here is CT averages. My county average is $3.50 for 87 octane. My wife's car only uses 91 and above (BMW). We usually gas at Costco but they only sell 87 or 93 so ….. My 2020 Ram says it requires 89. I usually top off with 87 if I just need a few gallons. Don't know if that's smart or not but the price is appalling. Food prices match what everyone else talks about. Everything else in life around here matches what others talk about on forum - cost of living, Ammo etc.

I think hoarding is probably a good idea. Things are not going
to get any better before 2024. I have two hybrid Toyotas and
even with 40 plus miles to the gallon I notice the price increases. The more pipe lines that get shut down the higher
the price. I live in Texas and I am considering contacting my
my Senators and Reps to suggest that they pass some kind of
law to keep our oil and gasoline products restricted for use only
in Texas. We are having to pay the burden of open border policies that the Federal Government won't pay, so I think we
need to cut out exporting Texas Oil and Gasoline elsewhere.
Let the other States import it from the Middle East.
Yesterday I heard on the news that someone asked my Senator whether Texas should secede and he replied he was not ready
to give up on the America yet. But that would depend on a
number of other things happening. The only other State I
absolutely have to travel to is Louisiana. I hope the time don't
come when I will need a passport to travel there. Every time
we have to shop for necessities I get mad at those causing
the problems. Thank God I have the guns and the ammo
I need and I am glad I have not wasted that or had to replenish it.
