Model 19-3, Completed Auction, Who Done It?

Thie reminds me of a 15-3 I had in a Proxibid auction last year. It was a decent one, and I was expecting to get in the $450 to $500 range from it. As I sat at my computer and watched it go past that and over the next 10+ minutes it went all the way up to $2800. I was floored, I called my wife to look at the computer screen to tell me I wasn't seeing things. I told myself that until I had received and cashed the check I wouldn't believe it. (and no, it wasn't a USAF either).
What I found most interesting about that gun is the front sight pin. I don't recall any -3 like that but maybe there are.
I wonder if it may have been touched during the action work.

And I thought I paid too much for a bodacious pair of grips, I was still south of 4 figures even with shipping and tax. That is just too much ego.
Because it is rounded and not flat to the ramp, or why?
Box shows "3T's" yet it has a standard hammer and a standard trigger with the grooves ground off. I had an 8K ser# 19-3 which came with the standard hammer, grooved trigger and the "football target" stocks. Seemed everybody else quit around $2175 and 2 bidders went where it went. Joe
Best I recall is you see proud pins on earlier guns AND the pins are drilled through the bbl to hold the base. This pin is in the base holding the ramp in.

I am sure someone here will help you get over your disappointing loss and offer up an alternative at a small discount...
That dealer seems to cater to the high-rollers out there, just like several others. Their clients buy from them because of their reputation - they "know" they're getting a "pristine" item (well, at least in their world it's pristine) and where they get it is as important as what they buy. Kind of like shops on Rodeo Drive - you can get all that stuff online, but then you can't brag about where you got it!

That's simply ludicrous, especially a molested 4". I wouldn't have given over $500.
Makes you wonder where all those pristine guns are being sourced from? Unlike Gucci loafers, the supply of revolvers in mint condition is finite.
