I had the pinto heard out of the corral the other day for some fresh air and "grooming" (a refresh on the Renwax) and snapped a photo. They are mostly N-Frame .357 Magnums, with a couple of Outdoorsmans (K-22 and 38/44) and a couple of Combat Magnums...

These two-tone revolvers caught my attention early in my collecting history and took root in my soul. I would love to see photos of any of your two-tone ("pinto") S&Ws.

Thanks in advance for sharing,

Beautiful, Richard! Your displays and posts inspired me to do something similar with a K-22 Outdoorsman that needed some significant TLC to fix barrel corrosion. I wish it was back from the shop so I could put it in this thread. Perhaps soon. In the mean time, I'm enjoying your wonderful guns!

Only have one, Richard, a pre 27 shipped to Rex Firearms in 1955. That is one stunning corral you have going!

Size-wise, my sole pinto is a calf compared to your bulls, Richard.

Here's my "blue-nickel finish" 3" 38 Chiefs Special Model 36, and the patchwork end label from the box. Roy's letter confirms its shipment as a "Special Finish Edition" to H. L. Peters Inc., Buffalo, NY on May 27, 1959.

If these breed I might get one someday. Stall is empty right now.

I have only had one Pinto and it was a fake. I used a $179 10-7 gunsmith special frame from J&G a nickel recessed model 19 cylinder and a nickel model 13 barrel I picked up cheap on Ebay. During hunting season a buddy took a shine to it and down the road it went.

I do have another recessed nickel 19 cylinder and a 6" nickel python barrel waiting for the right frame though. A pinto Smolt

I can't say that I care much for the Pinto style. It just looks like a mistake to me, much like the skip-line checkering that they used to put on Weatherbys. "Dude, you missed some lines!"
