That is why I asked the question - S&W isn't known for a nice, simple list of models and serial numbers.

Shipping dates, on the other hand, are very accurate. Ed

Click to expand... In 1962, the Model 10 serial prefix was still a C. The D prefix didn't show up until 1968. The 10-5 and 10-6 were made concurrently from 1962 until 1977. The 10-7 and 10-8 replaced them, respectively.
