Show 'em if you got 'em.

Suzy, our 6-year old border collie. I've always said that the tough thing about owning a border collie is having a dog smarter than it's owner. And it's pretty obvious she is.

For example, Suzy pokes me with her nose at 5:00 p.m. when it's time for dinner. She let's me know when she wants to go outside and play Frisbee. She pokes me with her nose around 2:00 p.m. when she wants to go upstairs to take her nap. She pokes me with her nose at ten minutes to ten every night when it's time to go to bed.

Miss Judy has said to me, "That dog has you trained pretty well." Unfortunately, I'm afraid it's true.:o

Three amigos. L-R: Kitty (who is a dog), Doyle (a cat who thinks she's a dog), and Randy (who looks like a dog, but I'm not sure what he is).

Dogs
I love dogs!

I'd give anything that I own for another dog, but, at my age, and in my condition, it would likely outlive me. I could never subject a dog to the misery that would cause. That dog would spend the rest of its life hunting a master/friend, that would never return.

I did the calculations when Max came to us and based on average life expectancy for both species determined that he is probably the last dog I am likely to outlive. I'm loading up on dog time.

There are many in the shelters that would love to trade where they are for any time you have left to give them a loving home.

Just like with Black Cat day, any day is a good time for appreciating all those furry family that find us humans worthy to be welcomed into their tribes. :)
